Re: Terrible standards of chaperoning

Hi, This has been interesting reading this. I've been a licensed chaperone, paid and unpaid, on and off for last 8 years when my dd first got into panto aged 8. Have worked with lovely chaperones and one or two awful chaperones (including one head chaperone who only wanted her sister and daughter ch...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

Thank you for your replies. The school checked with CSSD and they are going to include the reference from the conservatoire so it should be done today. Done 3 applications this week, hopefully 2 through UCAS today and then leaves another 2 to do ... And we said we would get them all done in November...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

Hi, Has anyone completed the application process for CSSD for Drama via UCAS? DD has been attending part-time at a conservatoire for the last 4 years and her tutor has written her a very helpful reference. Her secondary school however are saying that they have to write the reference. Does anyone els...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

Maybe what they are looking for is for DD to show what she has participated in (acting wise) and what she's seen and what she wants to get out of training with them? Also I was shocked to see that Mountview charge £3,000 more per year for their courses and that you can only get £6,000 support. Made ...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

Hi, Has anyone auditioned for CSSD in previous years? The other drama schools audition everyone who applies to them but CSSD look at your ucas application before deciding if they will invite you to audition ! Just wondering if CSSD do actually refuse to see people - they could be missing out on grea...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

How do you tell which are the private drama schools or private colleges? My DD is looking for straight Acting degree at Lamda, GSMD, CSSD, RADA and Bristol Old Vic but I didn't realise that we might only get £6000 instead of the higher amount. Our school keep having information evenings but as there...

Re: Can you join adult Spotlight without an agent?

My DD has professional credits (TV when she was five and panto and theatre since then). She didn't get paid very much for panto but it was professional. Also the theatre she did last summer was at the Almeida - she was part of a community chorus and the cast was a mix of very well known professional...

Re: Do LAMDA exams help get you into drama school?

I have wondered this before as well but as it happens I was look on my DD's school website this morning and found a link to UCAS. I was looking under the Conservatoire tab and parents tab and then I noticed they had links for qualifications for UCAS points. So I looked and I didn't realise there wer...

Re: Pointe Shoes

We are in Hertfordshire and DD goes to London twice a week for drama so it wouldn't be a problem for me to go with her at a weekend. The shop we use have been very conscientous over the years - obviously seen her grow up ! I will have a look at the ballet forum as you suggest. Thank you

Pointe Shoes

DD has been doing Pointe work probably about 2 years now, she's in Grade 6 RAD. She's just told me that she needs new shoes again and teacher said "take her to London" as she has funny feet. We only have 3 ballet shops in our local area so I do understand why but I'm not convinced the serv...

IMBd

Hi, Is anyone here registered on IMBd? I'm wondering if i should encourage my DD to create an account on there - she is already mentioned on there for a TV programme she did when she was 5 years old (but her name is spelt wrong - with a 'y' instead of 'ie'). Are there two versions, one you pay for a...

Re: School work experience year 10 - any ideas?

Hi My DD applied for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford for work experience - they take 24 over Y10 and Y11. Had a brillant day there for interview and assessment. Didn't get in so we forgot about it. Then on the morning it was supposed to start, DD got calls on her mobile - someone had droppe...
