Re: What do you look for in an agent?
Is anyone with daisy and dukes? I’m considering contacting them as dds agent got her one audition last year which surely isn’t right? Just want her to get the chance to audition D and D is a well respected agency. Has quite a large number on their books I believe but difficult to know exact numbers...

Re: Best etiquette for changing agents
Thanks for helpful reply, could I ask another question? I have contacted a few new agents, in the paperwork they want DS spotlight pin. Once they are on spotlught they can see his present agent, is that ok? If they have his name they can look him up on spotlight anyway and so will see his current a...

Re: Mad Fish, Brown and Mills or Broad International??
My gut reaction was Brown and Mills... However its probably not that simple. Have you had a discussion with each about what type of work they see your DD being submitted for? Have you had the opportunity to tell them what she is interested in? Do you know how many girls of a similar age and look eac...

Re: Spirit or Stagebox ?
I totally agree with the BYMT needing to keep all children busy and motivated if you are paying out that kind of money. There are plenty of things they could be working on I'm sure. As for the Spirit/Stagebox question I think you have to remember that first and foremost they are businesses. Whilst w...

Re: Spirit or Stagebox ?
You'll find plenty of fans of both. They offer something very similar. However Spirit is a weekly class in London whereas the London Stagebox teams only meet in school holidays for week long workshops. So it depends which model works better for you? Stagebox have also had their auditions for next ye...

Re: Mandy, backstage....etc.
Most agencies would be fine with it, but just let them know what you are applying for so the dates don't clash with submissions they are making. Worth checking with your agent first though as sometimes they may also be submitting for the same job - not all agencies would, but some of them definitely...

Re: Child living in a cast house whilst in a West End show
My DD lived in a cast house for SoR last year. She generally enjoyed the experience!! The house parents were all lovely, very caring and approachable and on the whole the other children were fine - but that is obviously always going to depend on who else is there! We did not pay for anything at all ...

Re: Advice needed about agency applications from a complete novice!
I agree regarding MT auditions. All MT auditions for West End or national tours are open castings that do not require an agent - however at 12, your DD is absolute top end age wise for these auditions regardless of her height and development. Some shows will keep auditioning until 13 and the odd sho...

Re: Mary Poppins
I suspect it will be sing an age appropriate song from musical theatre acapella, and perhaps a monologue for first round. Some dance will be required but maybe not until later rounds. I am only making assumptions based on plenty of other MT auditions though! Sometimes they run more of a workshop sty...

Re: Mary Poppins
Think it will be rehearsals from sometime in September and then it's usually an initial 6 month performance contract, which would be from when it opens - 23rd October. But there are no specific dates yet that I've seen.

Re: Agency advice please!
https://filmsonashoestring.com/child-actors/ This is a good place to start. Plenty of choice of good reputable agencies named in this article. You will most probably need to apply to several, and not all will currently have their books open, but will be able to tell you when they are next accepting ...

Re: Dd in spotlight- where else can I find her auditions?
The castings on mandy and starnow would not be the same as those on Spotlight usually. They are often for lower budget projects and you would rarely get anything for major tv/film on those sites. But great for experience and building a CV/showreel if the material is good. The only overlap really wou...
Re: NexGen
To be honest I don't know anything about this agency. However having had a good look around their website I would have several questions I would want answers to before proceeding. Firstly do they pretty much take anyone who applies? There seems to be no audition/selection process which means that th...

Re: Travelling from outside of London
There are sometimes roles in touring productions that have local children in for the part of the run close to where you live. London based shows will rarely take out of London children as they need housing and educating which obviously comes at a cost. If you have a London base and are happy to orga...
