Re: Parents not going to Auditions

I took DD to all of her auditions…..but that was my choice (not hers!) she would have been perfectly happy for me not to be there!! There were many auditionees there without parents, so it's not unusual at all!! ;) ;)

Re: Youngsters staying overnight away from home

I think what you're doing is brilliant, Katymac!! You are letting her build her independence in a very safe and measured way....so by the time she gets to full-time college your DD will be completely comfortable with it.....and you'll feel happier knowing you've equipped her to deal with all those p...

Re: Application forms

Re: monologue....they were very specific at Bird that both monologue and song must be age appropriate (DD was asked if she knew anything else when they deemed her song inappropriate...so she had to sing something a cappella) and at the open day the Vice-Principal made a personal plea not to perform ...

Re: Application forms

I completely agree Robsmumma........it really doesn't matter what you wear!! Your DD was brilliant to cope so well with that little trauma.....very funny story now though!!

I would only say that it's as well to know what the others are likely to be wearing/doing so you're not fazed by any of it!!

Re: Application forms

I would imagine that your DD's dance teacher loves her.....she sounds like a fabulous dancer and a lovely person to boot!! Back on leotards.....she should absolutely wear whatever she's comfortable in...but point out that others will be wearing some more dramatic styles...so she knows what to expect...

Re: Application forms

Try not to get too stressed......everyone is in the same boat.....and all anyone can do is their best on the day!! Katiemac, a classical leotard is simply one that would be worn for ballet, rather than a jazz type!! It could be a tank leotard (with thicker straps) but I suspect that most people will...

Re: Application forms

Wow......it's all getting real now!! Your comment about your DD's version of "done" really made me laugh.......it sounds just like my version of "please be completely ready to leave the house" meaning be ready to just pick up your bag and walk out of the door, and DD or DS's vers...

Re: Application forms

I remember it well, Katymac.....it seemed endless....but four down is a really good start!

Good luck with the rest......then it's the wait for the dates to come in (and hopefully no clashes)!! xx

Re: So much has changed & so much is the same

We started with 12.....DD just kept saying "well I'm not 100% sure about that one" so out it went.....and then we were left with five!!

Given the chance she would only have auditioned at two....we had to insist she added just a couple of options!!
