Re: Auditioning for 2017

To those of you who do have children on a foundation course. How have you funded it? It's something I've read about since I joined/lurked here and was always put off the idea because of the (no) funding issue. But I can see what the last few pages have said, it better prepares you for trying in a an...

Temporary Accommodation Performers

DD has come home from school with her work experience options. One of them is to join the pre-vocational students for 2 weeks at Perforners. She is really keen to go for this, but I am concerned where she will stay. Does anyone know if there are host families for there. Not sure how we can logistica...

Re: Auditioning for 2017

GSA is lovely and the Surrey Uni campus is excellent. It is a real luxury to have onsite accommodation too. The issues about grades etc with GSA are totally out of their hands. It is all governed by the uni. I'm sure given the choice they would offer a little a little more flexibility with grades bu...

Re: Auditioning for 2017

I agree with you 19 hours isn't enough. We've always looked at the degrees at the colleges as value for money- 40+ hours a week, school term dates (the year runs from the beginning of September to mid July) rather than mid September to mid May- all for £9000pa!
I couldn't agree more.

Re: Auditioning for 2017

I have to say the thread on 19 hours worries me a lot. To be industry ready ,contact hours have to high and the days long. There a some uni courses where I know of students doing their showcases about now and are concerned over whether they will get an agent. They are about to leave feeling totally ...

Re: Best value Foundation courses?

Getting a place on a foundation at GSA is certainly not a guaranteed key to the degree. They do not take that many students from the foundation as it can in no way be seen as a feeder course ,where foundation students get priority. The audition process is identical. The course is amazing though and ...

Re: Accommodation near arts ed

Usually the students pass their accommodation on to the following years. There is usually a face book group / chat room . The school is pretty responsive and usually provides a list once a place is accepted for the BA so presumed they would do it for 6th form.

Re: Auditioning for 2017

Arts ed recalls are done the same day. There is a physical examination , second monologue and duologue which is often redirected , second song choice plus some work with voice coach possibly. They are asked to prepare a dance but often they don't need it. They hear within about 2 weeks of outcome an...

Re: daughter wants to act any advice

If she can find it in herself to do so, finish the A levels . Unlike dance schools , drama / musical theatre schools are usually 18+ and some are degree level so worth having. You would not believe how much training they get , sometimes over 12 hours a day. Over 3 years this has to make a huge diffe...

[quoteRe: Auditioning for 2017 PostFri Jan 27, 2017 12:21 pm My DS was advised to audition late too. In fact, he was in the very last auditions for two colleges. Mountview announced at the end of the audition that they had actually found "their cast" already which I think was a bit unfair....

http://gsauk.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/BAMT-RECALL-AUDITION-Song-List-2014-Entry.pdf This list is a couple of years old and they do change the list. I think last year's had some things from Secret Garden , pirate king on it, think out there and Millie were removed . For first round go with your...
