Completely the opposite ! Agents were very keen to sign non-white students. Shows such as Lion King , Miss Saigon, Hamilton etc are current and colourblind casting is the norm for all shows now. DS says that being white British is a disadvantage .

Re: After graduation....

Agents love mixed race representation.Has she got a video reel ?

It is difficult to know which agents will get you in the room. In the end the school basically gave him a nod in the direction they thought was the best fit . Fingers crossed ..

Re: After graduation....

DS didn't have a problem getting an agent but found it a minefield to decide which agency to go with. There were boutique agencies, agencies with big names (obviously he wouldn't be one of them ) agents with lots of clients, some with fewer , some that represented children as well. In the end he wen...

Re: Auditioning for 2017

DS is just about to finish his course and is already finding it is all about the "look". The world of auditioning for colleges is tough and he is already seeing that life after will be tougher still . Casting directors are using different ethnicities to cast what were stereotypically "...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Do you think all accommodation you would like would be gone by 19th May ? It may be worth checking with that department how likely that is.

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Woo hoo! Just got back from our last audition trip and SO pleased to read this Marissa. Congratulations! Thankyou x how did the audition go? He was quite positive and thought he kept up in his class of ten boys (more doing funding today and tomorrow). The solo bit was strange though, lots of questi...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Hi there - hello everyone I’m new on here - I’ve been lurking for a while but I’ve been a bit too shy to post. I just wondered if you could tell me how you went about convincing the council that the foundation course was suitable for housing benefit. My DD has luckily received two offers for founda...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

You do not need a confirmed place to apply for student funding. Applications need to be in by 31st May to have it in place for September. You can apply after that but money will be delayed.

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Don't forget that part of that 20% will be overseas students who may not have the grades. But some things in life are worth a gamble. How gutted would your DS or Dd be if they got an offer for GSA but didn't put it as first choice , only to find out in August that they had the grades or would Hv been...

Re: Straight Acting 2018 - how to choose and manage finances?

Sorry, I haven't heard of Fourth Monkey, but we were in a similar position with a course at LSMT the first year. It looked amazing and we were really tempted. It just wasn't viable financially and I am so glad now that he didn't do it. As much as we would all love to think that our DS or DD will mak...

Re: BA / Foundation MT courses Sept 18

If money is not an issue then GSA I would think x It’s thrown a real spanner in the works for us...was thinking she would go straight to a 3 year course but it’s gsa and tempting...although means paying for 4 years of training ](*,) If DD had an offer of a foundation and there was a way of affordin...

Re: BA / Foundation MT courses Sept 18

GSA are top of their game when it comes to foundation courses. The old team has left I believe and a new team has taken over. ( I think this was due to less hours every week) As amazing as it is, I think it is worth pointing out a couple of things. Firstly the foundation can not be seen as a foundat...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

A definite no to wearing jeans for song/interview. A pretty top with a pair of trousers or skirt or a dress. Shoes not trainers. They like to see that you have made an effort, like an interview really . There are quite a few comments on here about people that are known to the panel getting a recall....

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

DS is still waiting to hear from Arts Ed on how he did at his audition on Monday. Their audition policy states that they do intend to notify auditionees within the week, but usually aim for 3 days. My DS is now reading all sorts into this. Has anyone been through the process before and confirm how ...
