Re: BA / Foundation MT courses Sept 18
Who on earth has told her they only get 12 hours? I am not sure who I spoke to, but I called them the other week to change her audition date, as the one they had given us was only a weeks' notice and impossible for us to get to. The person I spoke to said that the course was aimed at actor/singers ...

Re: BA / Foundation MT courses Sept 18
Wishing good luck to all of your children who have upcoming auditions! It's a complete minefield isn't it? My daughter has an audition for the Chichester Triple Threat course on 3rd March, and is waiting for an audition date from Performers College. She also has an audition date for University of S...

Re: BA / Foundation MT courses Sept 18
Yes we were seeing the Arts Ed Foundation as an investment in further training but it’s a lot of money and then she has to go through the auditioning process all over again of course. I had heard good things about the triple threat course at Chichester as they have a London showcase and tour opport...

Re: Understanding the Funding Options for 18+
You seem to have it more or less right (unfortunately!) My DD is at Millennium on a BA, so the student loan covers £6000 out of the £9000 fees but she is able to access a maintenance loan too and that is means tested. DaDas seem pretty good on paper for the diploma courses but many people get offere...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018
Sorry I need some more help x if she does a HNC will it be worth it as if she starts in September she will have to start auditioning in October for the next lot of BA hons otherwise she would end up having another gap year before being able to apply again? Does anyone have any experience of this? Y...

Re: Realistically is it possible to combine auditioning and modelling after graduation?
Hi Katy What is her plan? Does she start auditioning now or do they wait until they have graduated and are picked up by an agent? Just interested really, as you are at the other end of the journey! Am I right in thinking that Performers advocate cruise ships for recent graduates? I think the idea of...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018
Has anyone heard of or does anyone's child go to Brighton Academy? Whilst DC is aiming for one of the more popular schools he's also looking at others. It's just so difficult to tell whether the risk is worth it. I haven't heard of this one and I did a lot of research last year when my DD was audit...

Re: Mental health in performing arts
What happened to toughening people up to be able to take the slings and arrows? Wanting the industry they are training to join to be nice and 'ist' free is a wonderful idea, and while perhaps it is getting better in some ways, we're in danger of not preparing people for the real world, where people...

Re: Mental health in performing arts
It is fantastic seeing the efforts of MTA at addressing this. I feel compelled to add to this discussion after speaking to a young student of mine. She is currently doing the audition rounds and suffered a humiliating experience at one of the universities offering MT. In front of the entire room sh...

Re: Performers College Degree Course
I think that's exactly what colleges are doing / preparing for the demise of the DaDa. I hope it won't happen, but I strongly suspect it will. I have a feeling that some places are finding that diploma applications are down & degree applications are up. Despite what some people think, colleges ...

Re: Performers College Degree Course
Well said chilvers61, why would you want your dc to do a degree course where they are going to be one of nearly 200 when they can do a level 6 diploma at other very good colleges and be one of only 70 perhaps 80 and let’s face it having a degree in musical theatre on your cv is not going to get any...
