Re: First commercial audition

Hiya everyone, just a quick question. DD has her first audition out with her agency tomorrow and as were just starting out, we were wondering is there anything we need to take with us or be aware of before we go? All help appreciated :) As said, make sure you have uptodate measurement with you,, an...

Re: Applying for 2013

just to clarify - Art Foundation courses are free - so fully funded, and you don't pay for them at all.
Drama Foundation courses are not funded, no student loan available.

Re: First time round......very startled!!

best advice has already been given in all the posts, but can only reiterate fartoomuchtodo's post really - I think our role as NAPMs is to make everything as calm and relaxed as possible, and try not to let the nerves show, as we get more nervous than them and it does transfer to them - she'll have ...

Re: Applying for 2013

My question is, can we apply for a student loan for this/these types of course? As far as I am aware, knowing of two of dds friends doing Foundation Courses at top drama schools in London at the moment, there is no funding for Foundation Courses. Really annoying seeing as you can do an 'Art Foundat...

Re: Applying for 2013

Ds did have some good news, he's auditioned for a youth production of Grease for the Summer and had an email to say he has a part yesterday and should hear next week what part he has, so glad he has a fun thing to look forward to now. He's also going to Kavos with his friends-now, I'm not looking f...

Re: Applying for 2013

sorry it's a no but I think it's better to get some auditioning experience by applying to the schools that are further down on the list of those preferred before the ones you really want to go to, and that way your dc may get auditions through in that order, though not always the case. My dd applied...

Re: when about is first audition?

I'd phone them and ask if the terms and conditions of representation are that you have to be actively participating in the Stage School classes, as that's a huge financial commitment isn't it. Particularly as previous post by Cat_Kat0 says they weren't required to attend the school to be represented...

Re: Applying for 2013

As far as I'm aware,a student loan can be applied for up to 4 yrs. There is then the option of the career development loan but this needs to be repaid immediately after the year ends, unlike the student loan where you dont start paying it back till you earn £21000. You're dcs are entitled to 4 years...

Re: Preparing to Audition for 2014 Advice?

your dd could start looking for suitable monologues to perform - Some schools will have their own lists to choose from that may or may not be available yet, you'd have to contact individual schools - but most won't, and it takes a long time to choose monologues to perform, read the entire play and t...

Re: LAMDA exams

I don't think it is easy to get a distinction in LAMDA exams - it's actually very tough meeting all of the different criteria, and of course it depends on what the 'one' 'examiner's like' that your dc gets on the day and whether you get a 'tough' one or not, and they're surely all rather subjective....

Re: Brain AVM

It is a long time since I last posted so thought you might enjoy this update. My nephew is doing very well indeed, he is able to speak, eat, walk a short distance and still has his lovely sense of humour. He does not remember the long time he had in hospital or coming out of the coma and was moved ...

Re: Question about applying to Drama School?

I agree with pg..and while there are printed minimum academic entry requirements for most drama schools, such as BTECs/A Levels -it is the audition that counts and places can and are offered to those who don't meet the minimum academic requirements - so never write anything off. If your dd is seeing...

Re: Applying for 2013

congratulations to your dd Robsmumma - fantastic news =D> =D> At the first round at the Oxford School of Drama auditions I found myself pretending to be a meerkat in the movement workshop and I can remember thinking "if this is what I have to do at drama school for a year, I shall want to shoot...

Re: Applying for 2013

wish it was that simple - when my dd auditioned the auditions she thought had gone really well, she didn't get recalls for, and those she thought she'd not done that well.. offered her recalls !!! it's a hard one , as you really never can tell, and you can never 'read' an audition panel  :-k :-...
