Re: Frank Cottrell-Boyce's books

That's a lovely, if slightly random, recommendation to see on this site! I worked on most of his books and love them all, and I get lovely credits in Cosmic and the first Chitty sequel. When I'm not being a not-pushy mum, I edit - mostly kids' fiction. I used to work in house but now I'm freelance, ...

Re: Imbd

I've just been looking into this as DS was just in a short film. From http://pro.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?eligibilitytopfaq it doesn't look as if whether or not you pay for IMDBPro is an issue (though perhaps it is if you want to include a photo - I haven't got that far yet). If the production has an...

Re: auditions for Matilda

You apply for ensemble - they decide which part suits who.

Re: Doctors letters

The first time DS needed a letter (2.5 years ago) we had an appointment, routine examination and paid £25 for the letter, but at the time I arranged with the doctor that he would assume lack of visits to be proof of good health and would do future letters for free (might have helped that we have a f...

Re: Leaving my agent (Mark Jermin Management) - Help?!

When we left an agent, they were happy to release us as soon as we told them, and didn't enforce the notice period.

Re: is your DC affected by M25 requirement for London roles?

We live outside the M25, but our train link is good so that we can be in the West End in 45 minutes - less time than it used to take when I lived at the end of the Northern line. Whenever we've applied for things that specify 'within the M25' I've clearly stated the above, and never been penalised. ...

Re: Please tell me about NYMT and YMT..

I don't think it is a 1, I think it's meant to be just a line dividing the Easter dates from the summer dates. Oh well, as DS is a tiny 12-year-old, he won't be doing WSS. Anyone know the dates of the others?

Re: Please tell me about NYMT and YMT..

I think it's 3rd to 20th August. I've just had DS's confirmation for 10 Feb in London.

Re: Matilda The Musical

He's in it till mid-March. It is tiring but he's loving it. Apparently the problem on Sunday was that the blackboard didn't move back out of the way.

DS was Eric (ears pulled). I hear there was a pause while they sorted out a problem with the set.
Glad you enjoyed the show.

My son was Eric last night (the one who gets his ears pulled). He commented that it was an amazing audience, so well done to you too! :D

Re: Monologues

There's a play script of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Very few monologues, but when my son was auditioning for Matilda he used 7 very short Charlie speeches joined together to make a monologue (pp.24-5, if you're interested). It must have worked as he got the part.

I saw this on Saturday - very impressed, and the two kids were great. I felt for them though - they must have been freezing!
