Re: What to do at 16?

I'm reading this thread with much interest. DS wants to do performing arts at one of the obvious schools, if he's lucky enough, but like many parents I want him to get some A levels first. He's quite academic. Should he just choose 3 subjects he likes and is good at, or should he be picking drama/th...

Re: Communication with agent

Are you sure the agent definitely didn't put him forward for that WE show again? I think sometimes the CDs like to give it a year if time is on their side and the child was just too small/young last time. It might be that the CD didn't ask to see your DS this time but is planning to call him back ne...

Re: Jo Hawes Workshops

DS did a one day course, enjoyed it a lot and the standard of the song/dance at the end of the day was very high given that they only had one day to put it together. Met a mum whose kids had done a 3 day course and she said it was really good too. And yes, the Q and A were very interesting.

Re: All Boys Musical Theatre Troupe

DS is too young at the moment but it might be possible in future. King's Cross is a great location for those of us out in the provinces!

Re: All Boys Musical Theatre Troupe

That sounds amazing. Unfortunately we can't get to London every Sunday, but if you ever do a holiday/half term week's course, please post here and let us know! DS and I have watched your youtube clips and we are seriously impressed.

Re: School absence for castings/auditions

Hmmmm. I wish, Trundlemum! The wording from the guidelines is v v useful for if the Head makes difficulties about signing off on the licence, thank you. Maybe the Matilda audition will just have to be unauthorised. I don't think he has much chance of progressing beyond the first audition so we shoul...

Re: School absence for castings/auditions

Thanks. I will try suggesting that! Head is a real jobsworth, and not interested in anything except sport (for which of course kids miss lots of school with no problem). I would prefer not to have to make DS tell lies.

School absence for castings/auditions

Does anyone know what Head teachers are supposed to do when a child misses school to attend an audition? DS has a Matilda ensemble audition in a week or two. Last year he had two, about which I was honest, and the school basically said that's very nice for him but it goes down as unauthorised. I was...
