Re: Very Frustrated Drama Teacher
My own dd is missing her Year 6 leavers party to attend the rehearsal this weekend too. And she's leaving all her school friends behind to go off to vocational school.

Re: Very Frustrated Drama Teacher
I'm having the same issues. Show on Sunday dress/tech Saturday. Two schools 8 classes involved. The never of people who were away for the last separate rehearsal was stupid. Back in January a mum approached me about her dd being in another show on the Saturday offering not to be in ours. I said I co...

Re: Extra dance class while doing level 3s
Would you be able to fund her living away from home costs if she was able to get into a Jevel 3 course funded by an FE college but actually run by a Miss X dance school person in conjunction with that dance school.
There are two such courses local to me.

Re: Extra dance class while doing level 3s
I think she'd love the course at Doreen Bird. She will have to sing at audition but just to show she's willing to have a go. They'll train properly once they are there.

Re: Help regarding schools permission for time off
You can appeal o the LEA who actually issue the licences. Make sure they realise that time off for performances is not the same as the supposed 10 data and that legally they are only able to refuse if they can come up with a valid educational reason. This is a useful leaflet Cheshire LEA issue to gi...

Re: Extra dance class while doing level 3s
Paulears - Katy's dd is applying for the kind of colleges I have mentioned but the Lwvel 3 Btec is her fallback option. My husband teaches at one of the above mentioned places on the level 6 diploma. He previously taught the same course at a well known drama/mt based college where the students were ...

Re: Extra dance class while doing level 3s
I'm a bit confused about who is going to deliver Level 6 to a 16 year old? FE colleges do Level 3, and often now Foundation Degrees at Level 4/5 - which is also where the old HNDs that are still around sit. Do you want her to do university level instead of A Level? That's very tough, because at 16, ...

Re: Hammond school - Chester
Things have changed since my last post and dd starts in Year 7 in September. We ummed & ahhed about whether she should audition for dance or drama. She's got in on dance. They do all styles plus a lot of singing. She also plans on keeping up her piano.

Re: Monologue conundrum
I'm afraid I'm at work and the book is at home. It's an autistic girl who loves swimming. I remember thinking it was too mature for my then 9 year old dd doing Grade 1 but it was done very well by a 14 year old.

Re: Singers that Dance & Dancers that Sing?
This is one of dh's specialties- teaching dancers to sing. Dancers are taught to hold their core up and in, but singers have to let go an relax the abdomen. Some teachers think that singers should only sound a certain way (like dd's music teacher at school and the majority if posters on an epic mums...

Re: Book of Mormon backing track
Has the vocal score been published yet?
There's a company called London Arrangments which are very good but I don't know if they have Book of Mormon.
