Re: Needing dance help....

Hi DanceDiva Congratulations to your, obviously very talented, DD! Her dance teacher wouldn't have entered her for the exam if she wasn't confident that your DD was ready...it's really not in the school's interests!! Is your DD taking ISTD Bronze Jazz? If so the exam is really straightforward. This ...

Re: all the dancers have gone...

We are still here (also in both!), but although she has done brilliantly in ballet exams DD does not have a ballet physique, and has always known that!! So it's great for me to be able to post here!!

Re: auditions for full time dance schools

Thank you so much everyone....DD is finally coming back down to earth!! Dance&Smile..Bird was her top choice, so she is very, very lucky!! Hecouldshine, we live just about within travelling distance to the college (although this might be a bit much given the hours they do!), so she will probably...

Re: auditions for full time dance schools

Hi Dance&Smile Congratulations to your DD, Performers is a great college...fingers (and everything else!) crossed for a positive outcome for funding!! My DD has had an offer for the Diploma course at Urdang (subject to funding obviously!)...she is waiting for results from Bird, and she still has...

Re: auditions for full time dance schools

Hi Dance&Smile That's brilliant, well done to her....It does sound as if we are in a very similar situation!! My DD has had three auditions so far, offered one 3 year Diploma place (still has to go back for funding, obviously!) and waiting for the other two. She has two further auditions to go i...

Re: Move It Earls Court

I went last year with DD and she loved it! The classes she did were pretty full, but not so bad that you couldn't move, and they split them into groups to perform exercises/routines full out once they'd learnt them! We loved watching the various colleges perform, too, and DD has based much of her op...

Re: auditions for full time dance schools

Yes, Balletco is a fantastic resource and I have been posting there too (it's great to hear about everyone's experiences!) But DD is auditioning for college (not pure ballet) so it doesn't seem appropriate for me to post anything about her auditions/results there!! She has had three auditions, and h...

Re: auditions for full time dance schools

My DD is auditioning at the moment, but for vocational dance college (she's 15), so I won't be much help with lower school auditions, or RBS Associates!! But I can sympathise, and it's nice to know there are others also hitting the wine and chewing their fingernails whilst waiting for letters!! My D...

Re: Gary John Norman

Hi xebonykissesx I've had a look at the website and it looks as if they are just photographers, but rather than being commissioned to take pictures, they create their own photos that are sold either to, or via, stock image libraries. I suspect that they will always be looking for new models that the...

Re: Ballet site "going into archive"

I was unable to post on the Doing Dance forum...(long story!) so you won't recognise my username, but I have found the wealth of knowledge there hugely helpful over the years. I am the mum of a dancing DD auditioning for dance colleges at the moment. Not ballet, sadly, although she a beautiful dance...

Re: Dance School - advice needed!

Yes, the Brit School is very close for us, so will definitely audition there (DD has done workshops there already, so has a bit of a feel for it)! Great to have a recommendation too, thank you!! She starts the rounds of open days next month but I can't believe we're looking at colleges already....I'...

Re: Dance School - advice needed!

Hi Dance&Smile My DD is in exactly the same position - 14 years old, Year 10, not very academic (except for Physics, which she loves, bizarrely!!) - and she has already said that she doesn't want stay on at school for A levels. So we have decided that she can audition for as many dance colleges ...
