Re: Agents in the East Midlands

Hi there! Welcome to NAPM If you're looking for an extras agency in the East Midlands then I would say Celex should be top of your list. They've been around for a long time and although I've never had any dealings with them I have met extras represented by them on a couple of things I've been involv...

Re: Need some advice!?!

All good advice from summer66! What do you hope to do when you graduate? (Apart from go to drama school!). Are you doing a music degree because this is what your parents want you to do? Have you thought about where you hope to be in ten years time for example? There are no certainties in the perform...

Re: BTEC or A level

Drama schools which have "maintained" funding including RADA will probably have academic entry requirements and they will specify these in the prospectus (it's often 2 A levels or equivalent ). However, I think you will find that the BTEC will carry as much weight with drama schools as A l...

Re: Marlows Agency - anyone any experience?

I don't know anything about them, but I think the relationship with CTA is not a close one. Someone from Marlowe's agency visited this site to try to find out about CTA! I also would not take "do not telephone the office concerning representation please" as unfriendly. Most agents are comp...

Re: Child agent in " Frozen North"

I think it would be worth while getting hold of a copy of "Contacts". You can get second hand copies (e.g. a 2008 copy) very cheaply on Amazon market place. There aren't all that many agents listed outside London (couple of dozen rather than hundreds) so it wouldn't really take all that lo...

Re: is it worth leaving home at 16 to go a theatre school?

I wasn't aware that DADA funded places were available for musical theatre and drama for 16 year olds. I know that there are DADA funded places for 16 year old dancers but I thought all the MT and drama courses which had DADA awards were for 18 plus? Which schools have DADA awards for MT and drama fo...

Re: is it worth leaving home at 16 to go a theatre school?

As I understand it, it will be difficult to get funding for theatre training at 16 so this is an important consideration. She could certainly consider a B Tech in Performing Arts as this will have a more practical base than A levels (she probably wouldn't have to leave home for this, lots of college...

Re: The Poor School

If you are considering drama school training, I would recommend looking first at accredited courses - these are the ones that have been independently assessed as giving the best training for the profession. Many of these are degree courses funded in the same way as University. The National Council f...

Re: help getting a licence

I would recommend that you ask/tell the students to urgently discuss the matter of licensing with their own head of department wherever they are studying so that they can get the guidance they need. It is ridiculous that they don't know the ins and outs of this. It is not up to you to get the licenc...

Best of luck watchthisspace! I hope you have a great gap year full of interesting and fulfilling experiences. What are you doing after your gap year? The books I recommended are really useful if you are interested in working professionally. When you are first starting out it can be difficult to find...

Re: is it worth getting headshots done?

I agree! See whether anyone in your family knows a keen amateur photographer. If you have it taken outside in natural light, this may help. Make sure there are no distracting backgrounds ( no fence posts growing out of your head or tree branches growing out of your ears!). Take a look at Casting Cal...

Re: Looking for an agent

Welcome to NAPM! I'm sorry to hear you were ill when you auditioned for Abacus. In my opinion I don't think you should write and tell them so. They will have been able to tell if you were off colour and writing to tell them so after the event will just make you look a bit needy and won't do you any ...
