Re: Looking for Student London accommodation?
There are set mealtimes, but you can request your evening meal left in the fridge for microwaving if you know you will be back late. When DS was there they had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the weekends (no lunches during the week), however very few of the students made weekend breakfast so now the...

Re: Looking for Student London accommodation?
Neither my DS nor my nephew who is there this year have found it restrictive. There is no curfew (they lock the doors into the quad at night but not the actual buildings). There is no restriction on friends visiting either. You are supposed to inform them if you have an overnight guest (not sure all...

Re: Looking for Student London accommodation?
My DS is just finishing at Mountview but lived at Chester House for his first year. He loved it. Because there is a shared dining room, gym, television room, common room with board games and squishy sofas, dance studio etc they mix well with lots of other students. He made lots of friends from Mount...

Re: Urdang Sept 2018
You could look at Chester House. A few Urdang students stay there. My son is just finishing his third year at Mountview. He spent his first year in Chester House and had a great time. He made loads of friends and ended up sharing a house with three of them for the next two years. There were students...

Re: Urdang Recall
I know two boys who are at Urdang having done very little dance. My nephew only decided to go down the musical theatre route as he started his A levels. He was in a local musical theatre group and had singing lessons but only took dance lessons during 6th form. Having said that he did work hard on h...

Re: BA / Foundation MT courses Sept 18
It's definitely not a new course. My DS is in his third year at Mountview doing musical theatre, but the actor musician course was going at least a year before he started. At Mountview they take about 36 for musical theatre, 36 for acting and 18 on their actor musician course. Whether these numbers ...

Re: London Studio Centre
Hi Scarytimes, DS applied for LSC three years ago and like your DS was offered a place without the need for recall. He didn't intend to take it up so we didn't look into scholarships and weren't aware that there were any, but then at the end of May/beginning of June he had a letter from them out of ...

Re: Auditioning for degree 2018?
When DS was applying (he is now in his 3rd year at Mountview so three years ago now) he sent all his forms off early and his Laine audition was at the end of October (I think it was half term though) so they can come through quickly. On the other hand, my neice applied later and they didn't have dat...

Re: Urdang Recalls - Diploma / Degree
The degree letters also went out last Friday because my nephew was waiting to hear after a recall for the degree. He found out last Friday too. His letter said that he had a place on the degree course with a top up scholarship so I think that they let everyone know what they are being offered at the...

I was just interested to know which four colleges you are talking about?martint wrote:I see shows very regularly in the west end. Looking in the programmes it's always the same four college students which dominate but you do get some from other colleges and unis.

Re: Auditioning for 2017
Hi Nickinoo You can get a student loan that pays £6000 towards the fees (due to increase to £6250 next year I believe) plus the maintenance loan with the London weighting for both Arts Ed and Mountview, but you have to fund the difference in tuition costs. My DS is in his second year at Mountview an...

Re: Query on performing arts degree costs
I think any that you apply through ucas (often as well as a direct application) can get £9000 towards the fees. This includes Urdang, Bird and GSA. I know Bird only charged £9000 in 2015 so was much cheaper than any others my DS applied for and would have been fully covered by the loan. Mountview, A...

Re: Auditioning for 2016
I don't know about the girls' reserve list for Laine but DS was number 4 on the boys' DaDa reserve list last year and did not get funding. I think they only got to number 2 for the boys. He was however told he was right near the top for the Mountview degree course reserve list and was actually offer...

Re: What to do at 16?
Hi biscuitsneeded, I agree with dancingmoll. I don't think it matters what they do for A level/BTEC as it seems to go purely on audition. Obviously if he is looking at a degree course he will need the appropriate number of UCAS points although when DS was applying last year he wasn't asked for very ...
