Re: Does being a boy give you a bigger advantage of getting into a 3 year musical theatre/dance courses?

I think it is just a case of less competition for boys due to numbers but they still have to have what they are looking for.

Re: Seeds of doubt now

Isn't it a Tring Park boy that won the scholarship - fantastic opportunity for the lucky lad. Well done to him.

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018

I also did not say that they were brought to the same standard after a year - they were just not divided according to ability. I am really quite upset with this situation and think I will not come on again.

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018

Wow! I was not meaning my comments to cause such a problem. I was merely saying what the situation was for my DS when he got his place. He was told on the day that he was "trainable". He has worked continuously since graduating in 2014 both in the West End and touring so his lack of dancin...

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018

Think it is worth remembering that all these colleges are looking for POTENTIAL that they can train. After all, isn't it the job of the colleges to train their students. It is an advantage to have dance/singing/acting experience but you don't have to have studied since you were in nappies. DS had vi...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Dancemum1973 - When DS was at Arts Ed, his offer (and I believe everybody else) was for the diploma with the option of turning it into a degree for a one off payment of £400 I believe. If you DD gets an offer from Arts Ed then you would have both options and therefore no need to go for one or the ot...

Riverdancefan - yourDS will love Arts Ed. Fantastic place to train and like one big happy family where he will make friends for life as well as receiving an amazing training.

Re: Juggling school and working - when does something have to give?

I am not sure whether it is worth moving to a vocational school. As children get older the opportunities do decrease (particularly in theatre). Also, once GCSE courses start, most schools (mainstream or vocational) want the children to focus on the academic side. I would say, enjoy things whilst you...

Re: Dd struggling - advice

RADA do great weekend courses in acting. You can do as many or as few as you want - just book whenever you want one. Think they are for 16 to 23 year olds so a good age range. When DD daughter took part in a couple of these I believe they were £30 for the day so not too expensive.

Re: When to apply?

My DS applied late and was actually in the very last audition for Arts Ed and got in so I think if you have what they are looking it doesn't really matter when you audition. In fact I think there were at least two or three who got in on the last audition.

Re: After graduation....

It was dd's first job out of college too! When does she board the ship? I think it is an amazing job - being paid to do what you love whilst getting to see some great parts of the world. The ship is enormous by the way and even after a week I was still getting lost!! Have a fantastic trip.
