Re: Colleges and their different focuses

Hi Hilltop, I totally understand why youre asking this question at this stage of your journey but there isn’t a simple answer. All of the established musical theatre courses work towards triple threats who will take on leads one day. Many places that once had dance led reputations are now more round...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

Hi Amo

It’s great news that your DD was awarded a scholarship. Would you mind sharing what route you took for this? I’m happy to be pm’d if that makes things easier. Would really appreciate your thoughts.

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

So,have read a couple of things about Urdang, and hoped I could get some clarification and honest replies here…. 1- that the final year is only 2 terms, then you choose whether or not to spend the 3rd term doing the showcase/shows etc….. 2- that if you do, that 3rd term is an extra cost….. 3- that,...

Re: Arts Ed Principal has resigned following external investigation

Unfortunately, in this case, it was described as “historic” misconduct in the original disclaimer. This is something that was happening for years. Teachers and students knew about it but said nothing. It was time spent thinking during the lockdowns that brought it conclusively to light. Many, many s...

Some colleges allow students to perform in an unpaid capacity for professional productions (eg fashion show) as part of their training.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

It’s definitely been a difficult year! I understand why your daughter wouldn’t want to go through it again. My daughter has a friend in the year below her at college. She kindly told my daughter that she was so lucky she didn’t have to do her ‘real A levels’ and that it was so much easier doing sel...

Re: What size is First Year Diploma/Degree for the various colleges?

One of dh's students went to Bristol Old Vic but it was about 10 years ago. I think their numbers are very small. I've got 12 in my head and equal male and female (she got in on her 2nd attempt). But I may be wrong. I went to BOV 27 years ago (things might have changed :D). It was 15 on the 3 year ...

Re: 3rd year support

Urdang have livestreamed 8 shows made up of 3 shows and multiple casts. They are currently working towards an agent showcase. Tring, where my DD is currently at and doing GCSEs will be both livestreaming a final show as well as a possible limited audience live performance. I believe the older leaver...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I feel like I have lost a little faith in this whole selection process as it clearly doesn't always seem to be those that you know to be talented get the places they deserve...I realise that's life in general and often for a performers life for sure! We just heard from the most talented girl friend...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Does anyone have advice for me not being from the MT world. DD has an offer from Urdang and on reserve for all others she applied to. She has just been offered a place at Mountview. She does not qualify for a dada, so we will have to find the money to fund the course, whereas Urdang is fully covere...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Moonfaery, I think your DD is going to be very happy at Urdang. If you go to their website you can stream their final year shows. I saw Fame and the Drowsy Chaperone and will be watching Bring it on this weekend. The standard is West End ready and the streaming works really well but is most effectiv...
