Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

Hi, this is probably completely unrelated. My DS started at Bird this year and from my experiences I just wanted to make you aware (nothing to do with Bird whatsoever) that there are some unscrupulous landlords around. Watch out for joint tenancies that you're not expecting. If you become a guaranto...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Yes, the best of luck to everybody. DS moves into his flat at Bird on Thursday and starts next Monday. I'm so excited for him - doing what he loves for the next 3 years. Not sure how I'll feel when he goes but that will be for me, not for him. My other DS is starting his career as a maths teacher - ...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I have to say that is one advantage of auditioning a year later than sixth form you know your grades and UCAS points ahead of your audition. Which fetches me to my next question. Daughter got a Merit for her UAL L3 extended diploma. If we've done this correctly on the UCAS site that equals 120 UCAS...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

How did all your DCs get on with their A level results? My DS was fine - no surprises and definitely into Bird. I hope you've all had good days and that all your DC's places have been confirmed :D

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Wonder how the Bird reserve list is moving....any news? We had an email asking if we wanted to be considered for diploma too...that's all I imagine there will be some movement next week after A level results day (Tuesday) for the degree and GCSE results day (Thursday) for the Diploma. I'm not sure ...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Ooh - thank you for that tip! Will have a look. Sounds perfect! x It's an electric heated airer. The big one is too big for his room but we went to the huge Lakeland store in Windermere and the mini 3 tier is perfect. I must warn you that the box is the size of a small door!!! But yes, perfect for ...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I was also thinking of giving our contribution weekly to start with to help DD budget. I think things will also depend on their flatmates and whether they can share shopping and cooking etc. DD has a job offer for Saturdays but I really wonder if it'll be too much in the first term. And the issue o...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

ican'tdance - Is this for degree at Bird when he'll get a student loan even if it doesn't meet all living costs, or diploma where he might receive nothing in maintenance? My son at Uni (not doing PA) we pay his rent in full, which also includes most bills and leave him his minimum loan (around £4k)...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Thanks everyone. I think we're giving him too much based on your replies. I think a £50 a month reduction would be sensible. As you say, start low and go up. My other son is 21 but stayed at home for university and is about to be a maths teacher. Slightly different to Bird DS but from 1st September ...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Hi everybody, looking for some consensus here I think. DS is off to Bird in September and we've been trying to work out how much to give him over and above his accommodation and bills. We've got to £535 a month to include food, replacement uniform, any other living costs, gym membership, train fare ...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

DS auditioned in the middle I think - around December and January (although some of those were postponed). It seemed to work well as he had an offer in his back pocket before Christmas. He didn't want auditions to clash with mock exams (obviously that decision was made before the Jan- March lockdown...

Just occurred to me today and time is running away quickly!

Is your son staying in Halls or a house?

Re: Bird Uniform List

Hi Just preparing for DS sept start at Bird. Does anyone know when the Uniform list is produced and if there is anything in addition to the list that we would need to purchase (shoes etc)? Just asked DS the same question. He doesn't know eitherso I'll email Naomi and ask her. It's only 6 weeks away...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

DS showed me some of the posts from landlords. House shares seem to be quite cheap compared to where DS will be living in High Court, but by the time he sorted out his accommodation back in March, most of the local accommodation was full and he didn't want to be in halls. I think he's hoping to find...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

My DD was offered degree at Bird which she’s declined. There were a few others on here with DC’s that got degree offers. To be fair, they are like gold dust, especially during the early months of auditioning. The majority are on the reserve list. Somehow I think I remember them saying their intake ...
