Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Is it because they didn’t get through Designation in time? At The QAA inspection last year they didn’t meet all requirements though they were re-evaluated this year & passed (that report was published a few days ago by the look of it)

Re: Tips for standing all the waiting...

It’s impossible to recommend without your dd trying them on. The diploma students at Hammond wear full sole black Oxfords although advanced tappers are allowed split sole. I don’t know if tap shoes are part of the uniform for degree students. My daughter wears Bloch as that brand fit her feet well. ...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Are the phone calls being made to the young person or to the parent?

My daughter has a few friends who are waiting but they are at school today without access to mobile phones.

Re: Laines audition?

This was not at Laines but another college but we know someone who was weighed as part of the physio assessment and it was flagged up to them that their BMI was dangerously low. They were not offered a place and we think it might have been because of this.

Re: Motherwell college ?

There are some fantastic teachers at Motherwell. We've come across some of the singing teachers from there on other courses and the calibre is second to none. I do not know anything about the standard of dance there.

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Yes, mine is younger. She is 16 and wil be on the diploma course. Diploma students under the age of 18 have to live with a family. I got the feeling that the degree students also have a separate eating area that diploma students are only allowed to access in their 3rd year so I don't know how much t...

I think our daughters will be on different courses? She has to live in approved lodgings for the first two years.

Re: Foundation at Laine

I think this depends on many variables. We know several people who have managed to fund a Foundation year then gone on to do very well with 3 year offers including a couple who had 3 year offers at other colleges, albeit less renowned ones. When dd auditioned this year the principal of one college e...

Re: Times article - MT degree fees challenge

I think it is extra money but I'm not totally sure. The article doesn't make it clear but the words extra funding were used. We are a middle income family in the £60-65k category and I am personally very happy that dd will be getting a DaDa. Back when I was at 6th form, families like ours could not ...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

My daughter will be doing 2 A levels as well as her diploma but it was explained to us that a Level 6 diploma is equivalent to a degree just without the dissertation part. So after the three years you can do a 1 year top up to a full degree.

Re: Times article - MT degree fees challenge

We have spoken to a lot of different colleges in the past couple of years whilst investigateing options and what came across very strongly is that although a lot of parents want degreee funding/student finance instead of Dada funding in order for colleges to operate and offer the level of training t...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Hi - I'm, a bit late to this conversation but my daughter is 16 and about to do her GCSE's. She was going to wait until she was 18 to go away to college and apply for A levels & btecs locally but on the advice of one of her dance teachers and also feedback from a college she decided to apply for...
