Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought

DS applied to Chester House in May last year and got a place no problem. He has suggested that there are spare rooms even now. They have a lot of international students there who aren't always on conventional term times so places do come up. Chester House has a no alcohol policy which I think puts a...

Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought

Hi, My son is currently at Italia Conti on the degree course and living at Chester House in a non-ensuite room. Message me if you need any more info. He's absolutely loving the course and living in London. Financially London is tough, but Chester House was the best value we found. A lot of the stude...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

My son did one of the regional Mountview auditions last year and they didn't find out if they were recalled on the day, but got an email a couple of days later. He didn't get a recall, but was invited to audition for the actor musician course instead.

Re: Italia Conti BA Musical Theatre

Hi, My DS is at Italia Conti Academy in London on the BA MT course. He said they both follow the same course, but not there are different teachers, so it won't be exactly the same experience. He said they allocate you to a course, but there is some flexibility - someone had swapped from Guildford to...

Re: 'Best fit' schools/colleges post 18?

My DS has just started at Italia Conti on their new Musical Theatre degree programme. He auditioned at Arts Ed, GSA and Mountview, as well as a few more local colleges. The auditions were all similar, with dance classes, prepared solo singing and some pitch type tests and acting classes that were a ...

Re: Dance clothes for training - quantity?

We have a few dance belts and unitards/biketards cos my son is also a sweaty one  he had to wash his dance stuff every day whilst at Mountview but was fine in a shared house with a washing machine but this time in halls with a few machines that are apparently often broken I’ve bought my son a ...

Re: SFE maintenance loan

My DS is going to Italia Conti, but the University for the BA is officially the University of East London. It looks like his maintenance loan is being paid on the 1st official day of the University term, which is 24th Sept, rather than the 10th September when Conti term starts.

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Hi VaguelyStagey, Yes, even applying by October the majority of my DS's auditions were after Christmas, some were in March and then recalls after that. Many of the most popular schools have limited audition spaces too, so we were advised to treat it like Oxbridge if you want to go to the most popula...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Hi, I went through all this last year with DS who was applying for Musical Theatre post 18 courses. I found it a minefield with all the different audition requirements and funding options. I wrote a blog about my experiences to help some friends who were looking to apply this year. https://dgtherunn...

What a lovely thread. Fab to hear where everyone is going. My DS is going to Italia Conti on the new BA in Musical Theatre, having got his BTec results in July.

Fingers crossed for everyone waiting on A-levels.
