Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry

My DD has been offered MT Foundations at Italia Conti and Bird, and we just wondered what other people’s experiences or knowledge of these two colleges were. IC is funded whereas Bird is not so this is a consideration. She very much wants to get an all round triple threat training. She has some mor...

Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry

Hi, my DD has just started submitting applications and has auditions coming up now. Scary stuff! We just have a question - when they ask for two contrasting songs, should one of these be legit even if not asked for. I know technically it doesn’t have to be if they haven’t specified it but we just w...

Dd just tweaked and updated her old personal statement

Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry

Hi, I just have a question re Urdang and UCAS. It says on the website you apply through UCAS once you’ve accepted an offer after auditioning, does that mean that it will use up one of the five UCAS choices? DD had an offer from Urdang. She accepted it via email to Urdang, but didn’t need to on UCAS...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Is she on degree or DADA and if DADA does she get any finance at all for living costs? Up till now we've always paid full rent for our kids when doing degrees and left them their student loan to live on. Nearly 10K for DD's halls is just too expensive for us to do this way. We're taking all her stu...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Sorry to be barer of bad news but yes £700-800 around Chiswick is probably optimistic. DS lived in a shared 4 bed flat in Chiswick Village-it was £800 pcm 2021-2022 but when they left the landlady put it up to £1000 and that seems to be about the going rate now. Have you looked at Acton? It is much...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Have you looked at any private halls if they are any close enough to commute, their contracts might be for shorter periods rather than full 12 months. Mine is going to Rose Bruford and I'm staggered at the cost of their halls, 9800 for a 40 week term. Previously my DD has been in Edinburgh and then...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

We got onto estate agents' lists, but dd also linked with others on the social media chats. She nearly dismissed the one she ended up in as it seemed expensive and only three rooms (she was in a group of four) - but it was through a 2nd Year moving out along with two third years -and he explained t...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Does anyone have any guidance of typical rent / accommodation costs (shared house / flat) in and around Chiswick. DD has been looking and it seems £1000 pcm is common. Am I dreaming in hoping for circa £700-£800. Having to balance this cost with ArtsEd top up fees. Many thanks. :) Sorry to be barer...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Accommodation is indeed very pricey in Chiswick. We managed to get a good deal for DD when she started two years ago by moving into a flat with rooms of varying sizes. The overall rent was split according the size of each room (communal areas shared) and she was lucky that one girl happily paid mor...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Bird foundies have now got their audition results so I guess we can expect to see some offers coming out in the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed! Fingers tightly crossed here. Our DD has been patiently waiting since March on the reserve for degree . God luck to everyone waiting to see if they ...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Thank you everyone for your help and experience. DD decided on a gap year and to defer her place for the time being. However, today she was asked by a college that she didn’t get in on the BA course, if she would like to audition for their foundation! It is something she would take too if she was s...
