Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

So blooming happy - DD got offer of Degree at ArtsEd yesterday. Her absolute dream school. Happy doesn't begin to describe how we are all feeling. This was her third year of applying, so for those of you who may be in a similar situation to us, there is absolutely hope! Brilliant! Massive congratul...

Re: Mt sixth forms

I don’t know this college personally but it is always sad to hear of a training college in financial trouble - the industry has lost a few in the last year or so and I’m sure this won’t be the last. I feel so sorry for the students. I hope the link works - READ college https://www.instagram.com/p/Cl...

Re: Colleges and their different focuses

Let's be honest, most performers will not get roles on the West End stage whether 'leads' or 'ensembles'. There are just not that many roles/ jobs available if you count them up and so I believe it's really important that colleges prepare their students for many types of performing job that the ind...

Re: Colleges and their different focuses

This is not a fool proof plan by any means, but it does give you a feel for the success of students. Make a list of say 10 west end or touring shows that your DC would be interested in doing. Check out their bio’s on cast lists and see where they trained (usually on websites nowadays). Also keep the...

Hoping all new starters are settling into their courses. My DS absolutely LOVES GSA. Couldn’t be happier. Early days but signs are incredibly positive.

Re: The end or the start - who knows

Just to update you. Yesterday dd was offered a panto tour (small scale venues) for 6 weeks over November/December. She also took part in an paid Arts Council funded multi-media dance/art project last month. Her ambition was to be able to tell stories so this is a start! That is really good to hear ...

What a terrible shame. I am actually quite shocked this should have happened. I just despair at some peoples behaviour.

Re: Amount of jazz dance at 6th form college

I would say that: the commercial dance, the modern and commercial jazz all classify as ‘jazz’ and would all be beneficial in an audition scenario. Quantity is not really the issue, it’s more the quality of those lessons that counts.

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

Hi just found out a week ago my DD got a place on the BA Acting course at Mountview. Delighted but a mad rush to get ready to move to London. She turned 18 four days later so it’s been a fantastic celebration. Good luck to everyone starting over the next couple of weeks How wonderful! Congratulatio...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

My DD is starting her third year there and like yours, fell in love with GSA the minute she went for her first audition. Be assured the training is fantastic, excellent teachers, supportive and interested in a student's development as a person and performer, She is looking forward to Fresher's week...
