Gold card to Urdang?

Hello, just wondering if anyone can help explain something to me. An older girl in my DD’s dance school has received a ‘gold card to Urdang,’ according to her social media - what does this mean?

Thanks in advance.

Re: CDMT

Ah, thanks for that. We’ll wait a few years then. Is it worth attending Move It next year do you think?

Re: CDMT

At what age is best to go to this? My DD is in Year 9 and we’re looking to go down the 6th form btech/degree route. Thanks.

Financing diploma vs degree

Hi, I’m encouraging my DD to think about doing the vocational 6th form/degree route rather than diploma when she’s older, mainly for financial reasons, as my understanding is the diplomas are more expensive and you don’t get a loan, whereas you get a student loan with the degree and it’s cheaper. Bu...

Re: Spirit or Stagebox ?

This is an interesting conversation for me at the moment as my DD is currently away with BYMT and she has a very small role in the show and says she has done nothing for the last two days. I’m a little annoyed because we’ve paid £1750 for her to take part and she’s doesn’t seem to be learning as muc...

Time and cost commitment of local youth theatre groups

Hello, just have a question to hear other’s views on this. My DD auditions for a few local youth musical theatre groups but mostly just gets into the chorus/ensemble. Some of these cost quite a bit of money and have high time commitments and we’re coming to the view that if she doesn’t get some sort...

Suggestions for musicals to watch

Hello, I’m looking to take my DD to see musicals that have a significant amount of dance in or at least ‘triple threat’ type of performances (if that makes sense!). We’ve been to see 42 Street, but the others we’ve seen so far have had a lot less dance in, more actor/singer or actor/musician based p...

Re: Dilemma about changing classes

Many thanks for the replies. After chatting with my daughter more, I think we are going to cut back on some of the lessons on a Saturday when the new timetable for Sept comes out, as she’s decided that although it’s hard work there, she appreciates the standard of teaching and how far she has come a...

Re: GCSE music

Thanks for the replies. DD has been taking piano lessons for the last year on the advice of her singing teacher, which she is enjoying, so I think I’ll encourage her to continue with them then if she doesn’t chose music as a GSCE

GCSE music

Is GCSE music useful for training/career in musical theatre? DD is resistant to choosing it but I feel it may be useful though don’t really know! Obviously her decision in the end.

Dilemma about changing classes

My DD currently goes to an Italia Conti Associate school on a Saturday but although has greatly improved since she joined, she is finding it stressful and too serious. She does ballet, acro, modern, jazz, singing, musical theatre, tap, street, acting, private LAMDA and private acro there (it's a lon...

Re: 6th form courses

That’s interesting, I didn’t realise there were different exam boards and also different modules, etc that the teachers could chose. Definitely something to bear in mind when looking nearer the time. Thanks for the replies.
