Re: Beginning dance training at 20?

Emil Dale is not more 'dancey' time is split equally between acting, singing and dancing. I second that, all three disciplines are given equal attention and all with great teachers. Definitely, dd loves Emil dale , I guess what I meant by that is that the standard of dance is still very high whilst ...

Beginning dance training at 20?

Dd started a HNC in musical theatre this year and planned to be auditioning to dram school currently for next year but has decided to stay where she is and do her HND as she feels she will be a lot stronger next year. However due to having no sixth form in Scotland she began her college training at ...

Re: RCS

RCS is actually unfortunately getting a terrible name at the moment. Despite the fact they would all be able to get full funding due to being Scottish DDs college friends and her aren’t auditioning because of how it appears to be going down hill. The dance in non existent, they don’t train estill si...

Dd struggling - advice

Dd started her place on a degree MT course 4 weeks ago where the students gain a HNC after year 1 and are then encouraged to audition out to London. Dd is mainly a singer but can dance well. Acting was something that she just never really came across and I have no knowledge of performing arts so ign...

Re: Seeds of doubt now

I think it’s crazy the suggestion that MT training can only lead to ensemble work. When casting musicals they don’t look for straight acting graduates who haven’t sung or danced before to play the leads but triple threats ! Also I have no idea how I know this but Sarah Hadland who was in Miranda tra...

Motherwell college ?

Does anyone have any experience with the musical theatre course at Motherwell college ? They offered Dd an unconditional on the spot and she loved it. From what I can see they have a bit more success than a stereotypical ‘uni musical theatre degree’ as they currently have several students in the wes...

Laines audition?

Dd has heard a rumour that at the Laines audition they weigh everyone in front of each other before they dance . Just curious if this is true ?

Re: Times article - MT degree fees challenge

PPA are doing this too. They're offering a funded BA for the first time this Sept (started last year or the year before but wasn't funded) and it is £9,250 with an optional package of extra for £1,250. Its discusssed on another thread. When you look at the extras they're not really optional at all....

Re: Times article - MT degree fees challenge

Also ..note the pathetic comment left about "do you want fries" So sick of the ignorant people that know nothing of what these young people are doing in their training and how hard they work. The skills they get are very transferable and they work damn hard and harder than many other stud...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019 - 6th Form

At one of dds auditions this years she was incredibly impressed by a girl who went to a sixth form possible called ‘legats’ Or ‘bedes’ ( she can’t quite remember. I don’t have any information but possibly it’s another option ?

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Thought I would also update with Dds latest result. She was offered an unconditional on the spot to a college which although doesn’t itself provide vocational training runs a 40h a week HNC with a 90% success rates of students going to top London colleges after the course. Dd is over the moon as we...

A level dance ??!!

My daughter is currently taking higher dance ( Scottish A level dance ) and the whole thing is proving to be a nightmare. The class has about 8-10 girls of various levels on of whom is a Scottish ballet associate so VERY good and they have all failed their mock. They had a week to learn their solos ...
