Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Scarytimes other considerations you could make are, do both schools have a 'type' of show/role you get noticed for after stage school finishes (eg GSA strong singer/acting and Laine I presume dance?) - also is there a difference in the training they offer? I'm assuming Laine is more dance-based, but...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Wow! What a fabulous day for your DS! I don't mean to pry but would finances come into your decision making? They are both amazing college's so if it were my DD in that enviable position then I think I would look at finances. If your ds is entitled to a full dada with accommodation at Laine compare...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Gosh there’s been a lot going on and to catch up on. Those poor auditioners re the GSA mistake - they must have been hearbroken and what would happen if someone had tuned down a place elsewhere based on that false offer?! Shocking. My DD’s A-level exams are nearly upon us too. She’s been working ha...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

I woke up this morning realising, not only was I thinking of the whole GSA stress everytime I woke up but I had even dreamt about it. I don’t think it helped hearing about the group that got told wrongly, feel awful for them too. Then it crossed my mind, is my DS as stressed as i am? So now I’m wor...

My DS seems to have that "right" feeling wherever he goes (sigh!) and only one place did not do it for him, so at least he should be happy wherever he ends up!
This made me smile, maybe he's just very adaptable :)

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

As so many people prior have said, go with your/DC's gut. I definitely agree with this. When we went into this ‘we’ (DD/me) thought we knew which were her ‘Top 3’ and, of these, which was her clear favourite. However, despite getting an offer from her favourite she just didn’t feel it was right whe...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

I really feel for all going through this,I am dreading this post 18. I have a DD on reserve at The Brit school, she is very near the top now but she feels she wants to go somewhere that has chosen her,not a place that wants her as a second or even third choice. It is so hard for anyone to move on i...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

From what I heard a whole recall group got congratulations you have a place letters from GSA. They then got told it was a mistake and they hadn't got in. They were declined on UCAS. Unbelievably upsetting. I hope they review the process for the future. To actually send out letters with the candidat...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

DS has rang GSA again today! He’s just taking it that he must be on reserve, as they were no clearer really. Other than saying reserve. But when he says “so that’s the actual ‘reserve list’” they don’t seem to give him a straight answer!! But it’s not a no I suppose so there is that #-o #-o #-o He ...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Munchpot That is a terrible way for the college to behave, that poor student could of gave up his offers elsewhere based on that offer. How can they retract it after being offered! Yes that's a point. The impact on mental health could also be serious. We all know the rollercoaster DCs go through - ...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Whilst we're still waiting for an answer of DD's last audition, she can home today to say that a friend of hers got an offer from GSA on Tuesday and today they told him they had made a mistake and weren't offering him a place after all ](*,)  that is disgraceful!!! I'm sorry but we t...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

I've not been on for a while as my DD has decided on a gap year, but just to say congratulations to everyone whose children have recently been awarded places and DADAs over the past few weeks. Thinking about all of you who are still waiting - it must be so stressful (and we may be in this situation...

Re: After graduation....

If you go on Arts Ed 2018 graduating year , you will see who represents a lot of their students. There are 5/6 graduating students about to join the new cast of Les Mis. The new Cosette is from Arts Ed, as is her cover. Also Marius and his cover from the same school. Can't remember the name of the ...

Re: After graduation....

Would being mixed-race be a problem? Completely the opposite ! Agents were very keen to sign non-white students. Shows such as Lion King , Miss Saigon, Hamilton etc are current and colourblind casting is the norm for all shows now. DS says that being white British is a disadvantage . Yes true - act...
