Re: Millennium Performing Arts college
So very sad. Whilst late in the day they still have a bit of time, unlike the CPA students last year who were left high and dry very late in the day if I remember correctly. But the other colleges stepped up. The challenge will be that the degree fees are fully funded and they would have been gettin...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019
There is a way round it which is to make offers like the other colleges do. Bird make very few offers up front from what I understand and put by far the majority of people on the waiting list. Not aware of any of the other major colleges making offers even after the first term has started to the ex...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019
Bird’s use of the reserve list like this also leaves other colleges in the lurch when students who have accepted a place drop out (more so for the diploma as degree places are results dependent anyway. It probably doesn’t have quite as much impact on somewhere like Bird that has an intake of 100 pl...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019
Not sure if anyone can help or if this is the right place to post. DD will be auditioning for sept 20. I’m a bit confused by some of the funding and course options. Some of the colleges she looks like she would be better off applying for a diploma and some the degree. It’s a bit hard to tell which ...

Re: 'Best fit' schools/colleges post 18?
Yes I agree that the vibes are not good. My DD is in her 2nd year at Millennium and loving it but they have been told they may not be able to access student loan for their last year! Not a good situation to be in :( That's not good at all and I feel for you. It would be very unfair to stop fundIng ...

Re: 'Best fit' schools/colleges post 18?
Time will tell whether GSA has done the right thing with the "no writing whatsoever" course. I was quite shocked to be honest on the open day to hear this and when I tell people, they simply don't believe me. It is true though. Brand new practical only. No writing whatsoever and no more A...

Re: After graduation....
There are loads of agents out there some better than others but don't think getting an agent will automatically get you a job. I know graduates who have agents but no jobs. Also don't underestimate the value of a college agency. Look at Bird's twitter page they are still getting their graduates wor...

Re: Masters Performing Arts
No direct experience I'm afraid but DD of a work colleague went to MV. She'd done her degree in speech therapy but had done a lot of amdram and been very successful. She loved the course and is now in a cruise contract with Aida for 3 months or so. Only negative which came up in chatting with her mu...

Re: Wilkes Academy
My dd was offered a scholarship here but chose Urdang in the end. We were a bit worried that they appear to offer everyone who auditions a place. They hold around 6 auditions a year with only 15 at each audition and have year groups of around 80/90. We know of lots that have auditioned, but does an...

Re: What's on Stage article
IVe heard of them all & read the hard copy in the stage today. They are all institutions that regularly advertise or contribute to articles in The Stage. Nice to have you back islandsofsodor. I understood you'd left the forum. You may have a point but many of the other colleges not on the list ...

Re: What's on Stage article
Thanks for the link, as you say it’s very interesting to see the schools the article has chosen to focus on. I wonder if there was a charge for being included! Interesting list yet I have to say a cynical comment. I think you'll find that most of the colleges named have been nominated for Stage Sch...

Re: BA / Foundation MT courses Sept 18
Hi Chivers, yes you’re right the LCM foundation course is very different . It is supposed to be a feeder course for the 3 year degree. On UCAS you can either apply for the 4 year course (which includes a foundation year) or if you have the grades you can apply to go straight on to the 3 year degree...
