Re: Moving from Modelling to Acting

If he's getting castings like that then I would stay. My DD has been with an acting agency from the start and has theatre and screen credits. Agent and I have a rough plan of sorts, but it's down to me to find the right training, and we only get castings if she is picked from the submissions. If you...

Re: So confused about singing training

Hi Pandora, thanks! O:) this is so informative. Sounds like your DD is doing brilliantly. I am really glad to hear you have more than one teacher and also a group class - that's what my gut tells me DD needs right now but I thought maybe it was just me. Laughed at what you said about trad MT materi...

Re: So confused about singing training

DD has 3 singing teachers at the moment. Group singing with an Estill coach - lots of harmonies etc (1 hr/wk) 1:1 with teacher at school who focuses on MT (30 mins in term time) 1:1 with main teacher (1 hr/week all year) who does a mix of Bel Canto, Estill and other things. I would say that the main...

Re: Matilda the film

I think they have pretty much started again for role of Matilda, although have heard of some people recalling this week who had dates that were then cancelled due to lockdown.

For ensemble, they are starting in October.

Re: Matilda the film

We are really keen to find out when recalls will be as have heard nothing since the audition on 15th Feb - I'm wondering about contacting the casting team directly but worried that they may take a dim view of this...would love to know your thoughts. Lots of us haven’t heard since auditions in mid-J...

Re: Auditioning again?

Agree with everything above. My DD got cast at her second set of finals for one show, and has been asked back many times for other shows. Often it’s height or age and they will tell you at the cut that they’d like to see you in 6 months/ at next recast - happened to us with Matilda, School of Rock a...

Re: Matilda the film

In my experience with screen auditions you only ever hear if it’s positive.

Even if you do several recalls, it just goes quiet and after a few weeks you think, okay so that’s out now.

MT is more brutal in terms of rounds and cuts, but you do at least always have an answer!

Re: height restrictions at castings

Some castings say: UNDER 4ft 4” - Little Cosette in Les Mis UNDER 4ft 3” - Matilda in Matilda If there is no bolded UNDER then I would assume that as long as they are not over then it’s fine to go when they are on the limit. Some also have an age as well - they like Matilda to be as close to age 10 ...

Re: What do you look for in an agent?

- someone I can talk to about the not so good stuff as well as the good stuff. - no internal competition. - knows who the children are on the books and their strengths, likes and personality, and sends them for appropriate castings. - very selective and actively wants to represent my child. When I m...
