Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Good news re GSA A-level grade requirement being reduced. I expect the BTEC grade requirement will also be lowered? With my DD out of the country on a post A-level exam jamboree, I decided to call Trinity Laban to ask about this reserve list business. Apparently there are 20 people on the Trinity M...

Re: Reserve vs offers

As far as I am aware, if you start a degree course but realise that the degree is not for you, or that the university is not for you, you are able to change. If you wish to stay at the same place and change course, it depends very much on where you study, if you meet the entrance requirements and i...

Re: Reserve vs offers

My gut feeling would be to accept the Rose Burford offer - a degree offer rather than for a foundation course. If once the course has started and he has settled into it, he still feels it is not quite right for him, he always has the option of applying for Central next year and dropping out at the ...

Re: Level 6 diploma or BA Hons in Musical Theatre?

Something you may want to consider is if you go for the diploma, it isn't using up your years of entitlement to student loan funding (4 years I believe). So in the future if they want to do a degree in something else, following a change of mind or later on in life they could still get student fundi...

Re: Reserve vs offers

I know someone who went to Fourth Monkey and it sounds fantastic but the living costs became astronomical and they ended up leaving the course early because of it. I'd look at the figures relating to accommodation and living first before ruling FM in or out. When will he know about Central? It's a d...

Re: Tips for standing all the waiting...

Although I will add both of my girls never showed an interest in performing till they were at least 16!!! One wanted to be a vet and the other a scientist so there you go! I noticed at my DD's drama group, that many of the kids who were good at drama were also good at science. Intrigued I looked at...

If you have more than one child and they don't want to do PA, think about how much easier the whole process is. :D My 'wants to act' child is 15. My 18yo first generation to Uni wants to study forensic computers. Visit, Apply, Interview (not everywhere held them), conditional acceptance, apply for s...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019 - 6th Form

My DD will be going to sixth form in Sept 2019. There's a couple of local (ish) colleges that have good performing arts departments, so will be looking at them. Also she recently entered a festival held at a private school and won the acting category and their head of drama told her he'd like to tea...

Re: Wilkes Academy

The qualification is level 3, but quite frankly it’s all about the training and opportunities for me. At future auditions casting directors won’t be interested in the qualification at all. Luckily my DD will have strong A Levels to fall back and can look towards completing a degree (in a non-arts a...

No, I know it isn't for student loans. We applied for finance for DS only last weekend for him to go to Uni, thankfully he wants to do a computer course, which seems a lot easier.

Re: Times article - MT degree fees challenge

And in addition DADAs are based on your income during the previous financial year, not the current one and you may be in a very different situation now. Also, In our case child benefit tipped us into the next category so we had to pay more. Had we known, we would not have claimed child benefit that...
