Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
Does anyone on here have any experience of Royal Scots. DD is very taken with their course as keen on the instrument addition as well. We haven't been and visited but she has self taped for it. It does seem like a fantastic course DS had a degree offer there-he really enjoyed his recall day-also dr...

Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
It’s all gone a bit quiet on here. Has anyone’s DC applied to degree/diploma courses yet? Does anyone have any thoughts on whether applying early is a good idea? Thank you. DS was advised to audition late first time round and got zero degree offers-this time round he applied relatively early and de...

Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry
Just wanted to add a possibility for those DS and DD that have maybe done a Btec and or NYMT or other high level training: DS is incredibly happy at The Royal Academy of Music on their one year Masters course. I would never have known or indeed considered the course originally (many thanks have to g...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry
Ditzi I totally feel for you and DD-my DS felt exactly the same and it was so hard to begin with. Are there any theatres nearby she can work at? Once DS started working front of house at our regional theatre he felt much better-he was back with ‘his people’ as most who work there are usually trainin...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry
Just came on to echo biscuitsneeded sentiments. DS is so excited to start tomorrow-this time last year he was doubting wether he should still pursue MT-amazing how things change! Have a fantastic first year everyone and to anyone taking a year out to get their dream school-it’s definitely been worth...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry
Does anyone have any guidance of typical rent / accommodation costs (shared house / flat) in and around Chiswick. DD has been looking and it seems £1000 pcm is common. Am I dreaming in hoping for circa £700-£800. Having to balance this cost with ArtsEd top up fees. Many thanks. :) Have you looked a...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry
Hmm K8t I think as 2good2hurry says choosing a new monologue at this time may be dicey. Does she have time to read and fully absorb a whole new play? In order to really deliver on a new monologue she would have to give it time to understand the context of the piece not just learn the words. I would ...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry
So it looks like dd will be taking a gap year. She got a no from GSA, her final BA audition this year. She is still waiting for a couple of interview dates for foundation, which were the outcomes of BA auditions. Neither of them are funded, and whatever the outcome she’s decided not to do a foundat...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry
Thanks 2good2hurry and K8t, wasn’t me at Rose Bruford though. I felt sick at thought if DS turning down foundation and taking a year out and the uncertainty is definitely scary but worth it!

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry
And we’re finally done! All auditions over and results in. Stupidly proud of DS who having got no degree offers last year has got degree offers from Royal Welsh, RCS, EDA, Mountview and postgrad at RAM. To anyone not getting the results they want this year know that taking a year out is definitely n...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry
It’s also worth looking at intake numbers-as I understand it EDA have around 40 in a year and Urdang have around 120. DS was offered degree at EDA and would have been happy to go, I don’t have any personal experience but I have to say from what I’ve experienced so far and heard of them they have a d...
