Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Can I ask what CUCAS is? Have googled it but I don’t think I got it right! Thanks

Summer School Recommendations

Looking to book a summer school (if I am not too late for this) for DD who will have just turned 14. For reference, she will have just taken RAD Intermediate and just taken Grade 5 IDTA modern. She is looking for something to push her a bit. We are a long way from London so don’t want to use ££££ fo...

Re: West End Kids

I don’t think they are even open for that according to the website. I know someone who went for a few weeks in Leeds and said the numbers were very low. Not sure why it didn’t seem to work out.

Re: Shows canceled due to Covid 19

We are the same. Struggling a lot. All they want is reassurance that they will get back to it eventually. I can’t give them that. What if they grow? I k ow and understand the wider issues, but it’s not that easy. They just need reassurance and then they would wait patiently for as long as it takes.

Re: Stagebox Management

Really surprised to read this. There is lots of information about what Stagebox Management children are doing on the Stagebox website. They have a lot of children in West End shows and also some in film and TV, so not just jobs outside of London.

Re: Spirit or Stagebox ?

I am genuinely interested in people’s thoughts because it’s not a small amount of money to be spending. I agree about the training being equal, but i’m not sure that the performance aspect doesn’t matter. RoseTowers4 - this is sort of what I meant. Everyone there has been good enough to get into Spi...

Re: Spirit or Stagebox ?

Wondering about the auditioning for solo lines etc. How do people feel about paying the same (considerable) cost for training if their child never gets one of the lines or isn’t even considered. I have noticed this particularly with Stagebox - often only a few children are featured and some children...

They said everyone would hear either way by Friday and that if you had not heard you should email them. I definitely would.

On-line schooling

Does anyone have any experience of on-line schooling for secondary age? InterHigh etc. I am at the very beginning of considering this for various reasons. I know that some performing arts children do this to free up time and increase flexibility, hence me asking here. No SEN, reasonably bright and s...

Re: Self tapes?

Thank you so much for replying. I had not seeen the video you linked so have now watched that and a few others. I think we are mostly doing it right! I never expected her to be recalled or get everything that she is sent for, but it did seem that the self tapes are not right. However, maybe they hav...

Self tapes?

We are fairly new to the agency / casting business, but I have noticed an emerging pattern and wondered if this is usual. At face to face castings / auditions she has consistently either got the part (yay!), had a recall or been called back in and given excellent feedback from the director. All good...

Re: Clueless! What classes to do?

I don't think 4 is too early! I would do some research and get her into a dance school with high standards and a good reputation and stick with them. . Best way seems to be by word of mouth, but you could also go and watch the show cases / dance competitions if that's your thing. Have a look at thei...

Re: Stagebox audition

I think one of the reasons you may be struggling for information is that, until this round of auditions, there was only a Development Team in Leeds / Harrogate. The others are new and, from what I have gathered on here, look to be organised differently. It looks like a new venture to everyone.

Re: Stagebox audition

One Stop Box in Leeds is 5.30 - 8.00 on Mondays. I think you did used to be able to pay per (holiday) workshop, but you still have to do all 5 weeks. You can't really opt out by paying per workshop unless you do a city swap if you see what I mean. The only option this time was paying monthly as far ...

Re: Stagebox audition

Only a handful of boys. I would estimate that the Development Team is roughly the same size as the Elite Team.
