Re: Why.. Can anyone help please
This is a great forum! Loads of useful information and every time I have asked a question it has always been answered and really helpful. I often go back over old threads as well when I have a question. Great bunch of parents and carers on here. Always happy to share knowledge and experiences.

Re: Submissions
Thanks ladies, that’s exactly as I thought! The agent was great and sent the submissions to explain it to me - I had let her know we were very new to this and with no knowledge at all of this ‘world’! I know you mean about maybe it’s better not knowing - as why wouldn’t Tesco want to see my daughte...

Re: Submissions
I personally would rather not know what we’ve submitted for as it can be rather depressing knowing you’ve been submitted but not called in. I trust my DC’s agents are submitting them for everything suitable. Occasionally I will ask if we’ve been submitted for something I’ve heard about but usually I...

Re: Asking your agent to submit you?
I’ve done this on my son’s behalf once. Said I’d seen it and asked if he’d been submitted and if not is there any chance he could be? Turned out he had been submitted and not seen but with a gentle push they did see him In the end. Maybe ask if you’ve been submitted and if not, if you could be as yo...

Re: Mental health in performing arts
I sadly agree with Paulears that this reflects some (not all but some) of the attitudes in the industry, I do not feel it is ok to accept it as the norm. I graduated from a top performing arts college in 93. Abuse of power was rife - emotional, sexual you name it. In the light of recent events in th...

Re: Mental health in performing arts
It is fantastic seeing the efforts of MTA at addressing this. I feel compelled to add to this discussion after speaking to a young student of mine. She is currently doing the audition rounds and suffered a humiliating experience at one of the universities offering MT. In front of the entire room she...

Re: Late audition ?!
I think it’s because the conservatories open their applications early alongside Oxbridge, medical and vetinary medicine. The UCAS deadline for these is 15th October so I assume anything later would be considered late. Very interesting to hear that they consider late applicants a late audition as man...

Re: Assistance with Lamda monologue please
I had a student so this and she walked out with 96 distinction. She used her hands to sort of indicate the front legs. When she walked she lifted her feet and we did head movements as she comes close to Beauty. You know the way horses greet each other? Not sure if that helps? Feel free to pm me if y...

Re: LAMDA exams
I teach LAMDA and much prefer the acting to the verse and prose exams. I don't think they are particularly valued by casting directors or drama schools. What I do think they are great for is developing focus and sustaining character, stretching an actor out of their comfort zone (this will depend on...

Re: Lamda knowledge
In the syllabus there is a list a and a list b for grade 6 and up. The genre and style of song comes from there. Book musical, ballad etc There is also a glossary that gives you the definition. You should find it on the LAMDA website. Hope that helps. Feel free to PM If stuck as I teach LAMDA

Re: Spotlight
This seems very strange as Spotlight is not involved in the actual casting process once the actual castings happen. It carries on regardless of whether you are working or pencilled on a job as it's a only a casting directory. You can not be booked out on Spotlight. I would speak to your agent.

Re: London College of Music or Chichester Triple Threat
Both my husband and I have had exstudents go to both these places. The LCM kids love it and course content seems very good indeed. The new course leader has brought in some amazing tutors. I would say there is less dance than else where. I think this is going to be a course to watch and may well end...
