Graduating Bristol Old Vic

Hi all, I just wanted to say, after the epic 4 year auditioning struggle, which some of you may remember, my Son is just graduating from Bristol Old vic this year, with a choice of agents. It's hard work, sometimes it feels like a thankless task, but for all those starting their journey, sick with i...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Wondering if anyone can give advice on good choices for monologues? DD has a modern monologue and we’re currently choosing a Shakespeare one. Her modern monologue is American (though definitely able to do in own accent), and though this will be okay for some of the audition places it won’t be okay ...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

My advise is not to choose from monologue books, they tend to be learnt out of context and very over performed. If you look on Amazon top 100 plays you will find some great modern play ideas, Amazon always then prompt "others you may like" which takes you to some lesser known titles. In ad...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 straight actiing (Not MT)

Hi everyone, I've been in and out of this forum for 5 years. My DS is now in his 2nd year at Bristol Old Vic after 3 years of auditions at all the major acting schools. I have lots of experience of autitions, all rounds and the process. Can probably tell you a bit about the audition days and what to...

Re: Bristol old vic

Rhymie where is the like button? :D I hand it to your DS for 4 years auditioning. Well deserved place. Dd's friend got into GSA at her 3rd try. My nephew is auditioning for BOV in a couple of weeks and has recall for Bruford which he really likes. You have to admire them for doing these auditions. ...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Hi Kingswayqueen, my DD still has GSA for the Acting degree and Italia Conti for Musical theatre but that one isn’t till May! I’m wandering if this is a good or a bad thing....the waiting is awful and yes, oh to have a crystal ball. Finding out where they are on the list should help nearer the time...

Re: Looking ahead and being realistic!

Hi Rhymie! Absolutely brilliant! Well done to your son for achieving a place at BOV =D> =D> It’s so hard! That was the last one on the list for my son & he didn’t even audition in the end as we had run out of money by then! But tbh don’t think he would’ve even been successful as it’s so hard! Y...

Re: Looking ahead and being realistic!

If she is strong all round and is a true triple threat with string acting then dont forget to include Rose Buford and Mountview and Central in her list of potential schools. These are among the strongest in the country. Unfortunately she wouldn’t get any f/t musical theatre training at Rose Bruford...
