Level 3 extended diploma
Hi everyone :D My dd after a lot of deliberation has decided she would like to pursue a career in dance/musical theatre. She is 15 and has only really started out along this pathway so auditioning for colleges such as Urdang, Bird, LSC etc is pretty much a no no for next year. We both feel studying ...

Re: September 2015
I posted the following message below on the LSC thread re:but it occurred to me after, that I may have been better off posting here instead - apologies therefore for the double up! My 16 year old DS has just learnt that he has been awarded a scholarship at Urdang Academy on the Diploma Course. We a...

Re: How much experience should you have to apply for diploma
Hi guys, just a quick update on dd and ballet (or lack of). She has recently joined the Hertfordshire Youth Ballet company at EDSA and has been slotted into the junior ballet classes (rather than senior as she knows absolutely nowt!) and gets to train with the senior contemporary company. She has al...

Re: Weird question but is a DaDA a scholarship?
Well done Katymac for DD's DaDA! As it is technically a scholarship does having one then exclude someone from taking out a student loan later in life? Really confused by this ... spoke to student finance about it and they were pretty clueless - stating as Level 6 course is on par with a degree then ...

Re: How much is Health Insurance & which companies?
I agree with Puck, it is not just about physio cover. Dancers can get overuse injuries as well as traumatic injuries, either of which may require an MRI or CT scan to evaluate or treat properly. My DD over the past 3 years has required 4 MRI's, 3 ultrasound scans, an operation and 3 cortisone inject...

Re: How much is Health Insurance & which companies?
Age is a factor for health insurance. Many companies will only allow a child to be added onto an adult policy (not sure if this is age 16 or 18 though). Both BUPA and AXA offer child only policies at a reasonable monthly cost, I was paying 25.00 for Bupa and 20.00 for AXA. However, they will not cov...

Re: Tring PA 6th form
Thanks for the replies - I know getting a Dada is difficult for any establishment and limiting choices to 6th forms with A levels is going to make it even harder, but a career as a performer in the arts industry is finite and losing entitlement to student finance at a later date could make a career ...

Tring PA 6th form
Sorry if I appear a little dense but am having some problems getting my head around all these new ideas ](*,) My DD has just started out on the whole performing arts journey and has decided she would like to apply for a 6th form that covers both arts/dance and A levels. Tring is commutable and they ...

Re: Artistry Youth Dance Company
WOW sounds like great fun! What times do they run on Sunday? I think I may have problems getting her to leave PPAS if they clash, so fingers crossed. One of the joys of living in Central London is the abundance of opportunities to partake in the arts, but with only 2 days at the weekend there just a...

Hiya, anyone know much about AYD? Have filled in a registration form for July audition but it runs on a Sunday and clashes with DD's other classes. Would like to know a bit more about it if anyone has auditioned or attends

Re: How much experience should you have to apply for diploma
Thank you so much Katymac and 2dancersmum for the feedback, I feel completely out my depth at the moment and don't really know where to start. DD currently attends the Pinaeapple Arts course on a Sunday which covers musical theatre dance, commercial and contemporary and she has been picking up the o...

How much experience should you have to apply for diploma etc
Hi am very new to all this so please forgive me if I am asking rather silly questions  My DD has shown an interest in pursuing a career in dance/MT but has only recently started having dance lessons. She is 15 and has a background in competitive gymnastics so has good core strength, flexibilit...
