Re: 2021 Graduates!

Where is your DD based Marissa? I think a lot of them have to take the plunge to move towards London, as if an audition comes through, it is often with very little warning!!

Re: 2021 Graduates!

Hello! My DD graduated from Millennium in London last year. She was lucky enough to get an agent through the agents going to the college.(Just as well, as the agent showcase in person didn't happen) She was offered a cruise contract before she graduated, started rehearsals and then 2 weeks in, it al...

Re: When do you stop supporting dreams?

If you let her apply for drama school then the decision may well be made for her. So many apply, the audition process is hard, so if she is good enough, she will come through, if not, that would be the time to re-evaluate.

Re: Insurance

My DD is with AXA, we were paying about £31 per month but I have got it down to £24 with a bit of wrangling. She used it last year for physio, got a referral from GP and it was really straightforward.

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Hi everyone I am a newby to this although have spent far too many late nights reading everyone else’s posts trying to work out what next! My DD did A’levels then auditioned last year and was put on Arden reserves before ending up at their associated college on HNC musical theatre. She only applied ...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Definitely call them. Most colleges are really flexible. You won't be the only one in that position.

Re: 'Best fit' schools/colleges post 18?

Yes I agree that the vibes are not good. My DD is in her 2nd year at Millennium and loving it but they have been told they may not be able to access student loan for their last year! Not a good situation to be in :(

Re: Juggling school and working - when does something have to give?

I think that you have said it yourself, things naturally quieten down, as they approach teenage years. If he is in year 5, ride the storm until next year and then decide if a more vocational senior school would be better for him. Or maybe let him do this and then take a step away from it all next ye...

Re: Self Tape Success Stories

My DD recently self-taped for Anastasia in Madrid after I saw a casting and badgered her to do it. She got an email back inviting her to go to Madrid 2 days after, which we couldn't do, so it was a thanks but no thanks situation, and I got a telling off from her for 'not thinking it through' :...

Re: Amount/type of training at 13

Have a look at NYMT and YMT, as they can be listed as professional work, further down the line. They audition all around the country starting in November and as you get feedback from the audition, it's a good indication of where she is at or what might need work on.

Re: When to apply?

I agree with Robin. There is no point auditioning early, when the whole point of a foundation year is to get them ready for a 3 year course. How about a happy medium? Stagger the auditions, starting from end January/Feb with her least favourite on paper, progressing through to March/April. The worst...

Re: Just looking for some reassurance/advice

I think that if it is her passion, then you just have to go with it, the same way that you would if it were a sport or any other 'serious' hobby. YMT is well thought of, when applying for full time MT courses, you can list that as a professional credit, which you obviously can't with school producti...
