FREE???
If only theatre was free, god knows how much it costs parents of performing kids to appear in these shows, yes, the kids get a token amount but the costs to get them there generally exceed them.

Re: film V stage
We loved Les Mis the movie and it introduced us to the show and the rest is history, so it has a lot to answer for!!! I believe Billy was planned as a film and a show at the same time, the plan was to launch the film then the show straight afterwards, definitely prefer Matilda the show, Charlie the ...

Re: Not-so-lovely Chaperones?
But that's how it is, parents will never grumble because they are grateful to be there, and woe-betide any that do.

Re: Not-so-lovely Chaperones?
I would prefer a chaperone that may not be all fluffy and lovely but would stick up of the child if the theatre asked too much of them, rather an one who is lovely and lets the company manger walk all over them. That said, our kids go into theatre for a positive experience because they want to perfo...

It appears that thy are seriously taking the views form the people that matter, kids, parents and chaperones and there is flexibility if it makes sense.

Re: Oliver Film
I think the rawness of singing live on Les Mis worked so well, would love to see more musicals done like this. Oliver would be great plus we'd probably know half the kids they use in it.

Re: A remark from a TV and Film Director
I think this is very common with many CD's and directors but they can see through all the training and over acting, I don't think it holds a child back but they may have to be prepared to un learn what they have learnt. My DD used to do LAMDA speech and drama with school when she was little, it was ...

Re: CHILD BEAUTY PAGEANTS: HELP
That's nothing to do with performing, that's journalists for you. Look at the Daily Mail article about how children are exploited in theatre, they only picked up on the fact a kid get's a certain amount per week in relation to the adults, yet failed to recognise the other expenses the theatre fork o...

Pushy mums
I recently read an article on Spotligt, that pointed back to this forum, about how all us pushy's should behave, I'm sure others saw it but I found it a tiny bit patronising. We offer up our children, make them learn heaps of scripts, trapes all over the place going to castings then hang around for ...

Everything to do with performing, or everything to do with getting there?
Most of the performing parents are the nicest people you could choose to meet, the negative ones tend to be the competitive ones.

They're still asking for new submissions, bit like Cinderella, they'll not stop till they've seen every 9-12 year old in the land!!
