Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

The diploma course is completely different to the degree course at Hammond. The auditions are separate and the requirements for each course vary. I think they are one of the only colleges that run a completely separate course for the degree and diploma.

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

I don't think they have Ballet on the timetable for the degree course, but I think you can join in the early morning RAD vocational graded classes. They take place before school starts around 8 am. There isn't as much dance on the degree course as its more singing and acting. The diploma course is m...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Just had a quick look at Millenniums website and I can't see any mention of DADA funding. So perhaps it has been removed from their website. Maybe someone who has a student there will know for definite.

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put results

I am not being dismissive of Hammond but do believe that the majority of graduates go onto the cruise ships. There is nothing wrong with this and it is a great job, but if you want more musical theatre type work it can be very frustrating when the agents are saying they see Hammond as a dance school...

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put results

If i could just point out the graduate class at Hammond have 28 students. Approximately 10 have agents ( not everyone got offered/wanted one) and 6 have jobs. So the figures are slightly different to what has been posted previously. The percentages are probably quite similar in most MT/Dance college...

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put results

Looking at the programme for the summer show at Bird, there are 119 students in the graduate year and 160 in the first year. It is a big college but the standard of teaching is fabulous. I think because most of the colleges offer student funding for the degree course they can basically take as many ...

Re: Elephant in the room

The BA course at the Hammond is 22 contact hours a week. They do between 5-6.5 hours over 4 days. Also, the term starts at the end of September and they finish in May. The diploma students have approx 35 hours per week over 5 days and attend from early September until mid July. As far as I know the ...

Re: Auditioning for 2017

DADA's are only available for diploma students and not everyone will receive one. It is means tested and if you earn over £90,0000 per annum you do not qualify. If you are on a low income under £30,00 per annum all the fees are covered and you will also receive maintenance. The BA students can acces...

Re: Auditioning for 2017

Colleges do occasionally offer DADA's before they have finished auditioning. My daughter was one of the lucky ones to be offered one on the day of her audition.

Re: Auditioning for 2017

My daughter was finished by 4 pm last year. It depends on the singing and acting part of the audition. Everyone is seen individually, it was in alphabetical order and we are towards the end of the alphabet. Once you have been seen you are free to go,probably between 3-5 pm finish time.

Re: The Hammond BA Hons Degree Musical Theatre course

The degree course is mainly acting/singing with a very small amount of dance and of course their academic studies. They also have less contact hours than the diplomas. The Mt diplomas do mainly dance/singing and less acting. The auditions are separate and very different for the diploma and degree co...

Re: Auditioning for 2017

My daughter was only fifteen when she auditioned last year, the colleges she auditioned for didn't mention her age. She was offered funding at all four colleges she applied to. We didn't apply to Bodyworks so maybe they are more concerned with the age of the student.
