Dance clothing for auditions

Just wondered what the general feeling is about this ... If your DD got through first selection round on the strength of a movie sent where they were looking a certain way with clothes and hair and makeup would you stick with the same look or wear something different ? My gut feel is to look the sam...

Re: Pointe Shoes

Another vote for Dancia in Drury lane if you do head to london. They seemed to have huge stock and a range of brands and have been really thorough with fitting. Obviously I can't comment on your local shop but just the service and experience great at Dancia :) no appointment necessary either as they...

Re: Starpower dance comp

That's fantastic!! Good luck to you and hope you have an amazing time :) We worked out a minimum cost per child which included funding the dance teacher and two chaperones but there was no way we could get our act together in time. Would be fab to see a UK team do well ... Fingers crossed for you Ha...

Will your dance school get to go?

We got a golden ticket too but the fundraising needed was just too steep :(

Re: Class advice

I also wondered if this could have bee our show! (But katymac mentioned she did costumes so I know it isn't!) I made 250 costumes for our show including tye dying and hot glue gunning 3000 gem stones. Not on my own but with some help and yet I was still making an extra costume half an hour before dr...

Re: How long between dance exams?

I think 2 years (age 8 to 10) approx for rad grade 3 might be about right but rather than look at terms and timescales it can be usefully to look at hours. I think on the rad website it recommends something like 60 hours per grade so did you daughter do one or two classes a week? The ISTD seems a bi...

Re: Starpower dance comp

We are doing this for first time too this year and very excited. My dd is convinced it will be like an episode of "Dance Moms".

I searched for starpower uk on youtube and those videos looked a bit less scarey than the USA çompetitors :)

Re: Dance competitions

I think the dance teacher should be a good guide as they will have seen a side to your dd that means they can compare with other students / competitors, so I would trust them. I also think that nerves and anxiety will depend on what she's done previously on stage such as shows. Has she done much on ...
