Re: Anyone had experience of scoliosis?
Hi, dd is much better now thank you, 5 months after her op. Her spine is good, a bit of pain initially but she just had to get used to moving differently. She can't do any contact sport for a year, but can now go swimming and cycle. She looks much straighter and has got used to bending her spine all...

Re: Help with second audition for Purcell School.
Hi, regarding the auditions I think we were given the date for the main audition the day after the preliminary one. However, our time was limited as my dd was about to have her operation. I think auditioning on violin and piano would be very different from voice and flute and would be taken by a dif...

Re: Anyone had experience of scoliosis?
Thanks all. Just wanted to say dabdab, that we came to the conclusion that it had to be done, so we might as well get on and do it. You are right, there is no best time as it will disrupt their schooling and lives whenever it happens. Dd is in Year 11 - luckily she took 8 of her GCSE's last year, an...

Re: Anyone had experience of scoliosis?
Thank you all for your good wishes. Came out of hospital today, and she is recovering well, after what I can only describe as the most stressful week of our lives! Nothing can prepare you for it - the relief when after 6 hours they called me to go to her on the High Dependency Unit, the sudden deter...

Re: Anyone had experience of scoliosis?
With only 5 days to go until dd's op I am getting very nervous! She, however, is fine!

Re: Help with second audition for Purcell School.
She starts next September. I will miss her so much as she will have to board during the week and just come home at weekends, but she wanted it so much and it will be a great experience, which she is very lucky to have!

Thank you everybody, I am so touched by your good wishes. This sort of thing just doesn't happen to people like us! Dd says thank you too.

Re: Help with second audition for Purcell School.
Sorry I haven't been on here for ages as we recently moved house and had no internet for about three weeks. Last week dd had her second audition at Purcell. We still haven't been told the result, but she had a full day of auditions, tests and interviews, which dd thought went ok, but the standard of...

Re: Help with second audition for Purcell School.
We did tell the school about her scoliosis, but I don't think they were prepared to make allowances as the standard is so high. Her lung function is about 20% reduced at the moment, but she was ok during the audition yesterday. She has her pre-op assessment on 10th October, and I feel we are racing ...

Re: Help with second audition for Purcell School.
Thank you for your replies. I forgot to say that she is 15 and passed her Grade 8 singing with distinction in the summer. I will look up those suggestions thank you.
