Re: DD first screen test - help!

Sorry everyone for the delayed update! No news on call backs, but I doubt we'll hear anything if it's a no. Ok, so we got to the casting place and there was another girl waiting with her mum too. When the casting assistant came out she went straight for the other girl and they did the whole "Ho...

Re: DD first screen test - help!

She's very young so they are highly likely to be friendly, patient and encouraging. Do warn her that she may not be in the room for long though Funny you should say that! Last week she had a casting for a commercial and the casting director (who owns the company and is well known) was sooooooooo sh...

Re: DD first screen test - help!

As Francescasmum says, She may be asked to respond to a couple of redirections. So, for example, if she has played her character as sad, they might ask for angry, or for even more sad, or to move differently. Again, don't worry if they don't do this, but I'm mentioning it because sometimes the chil...

DD first screen test - help!

Hi all, Got a call today from DD's agent to say she had been requested for a screen test next week for a main role in a feature film. DD is 8 and gone to a few commercial castings (no success yet!) and has done a few short films, but she's never been to anything at this level before. The film is wit...

Re: The Dilvery Man

I wonder if they'll change the name then if i gets picked up?

I doubt they'll want to be confused with the movie. Was the movie released in the UK? It was heavily advertised here in Australia, so everyone would recognise the name.

Re: The Dilvery Man

Do you mean The Delivery Man? That movie was out last year. The one with Vince Vaughn playing a guy who inadvertently fathered over 500 kids due to a mix up at the sperm bank!

Maybe it was SOOOO good, they're doing a remake already...

Casting with no script - improv

Hi all! DD has a casting tomorrow for a feature film (we live in Australia, so it isn't one listed on here) and I was hoping for some wise words or advice. It is a closed casting (think that's the right term for castings that aren't made public? Only to talent agents?) so the only information I have...

Re: Jellicoe Road film given funding

I forgot to add that On the Jellicoe Road (in US and maybe UK it's just called Jellicoe Road) is one of my favourite books. It is stunning and I was an emotional wreck for a week after reading it. Beautiful, tragic and beautiful again. I highly recommend reading it. It starts off disjointed and hard...

Jellicoe Road film given funding

Firstly, apologies for my absence. Stuff just gets busy! DD has had new headshots done, I've updated her showreel and she is signed with an agency, so we're just waiting on some opportunities to come up now! Ok, back on topic. GOSSIP! Melina Marchetta is a very successful and critically acclaimed Au...

Re: What Are The Best Agents For A 17yr Old With No Experian

It's worth contacting film schools and asking about opportunities for student short films. They regularly have to film pieces for their course and need volunteer actors. No pay, but you get some experience and, most importantly, some footage to show what you can do which can be part of your resume. ...

Re: Am I reading too much into this?

Nothing too exciting happening. Think it's all fizzled out into "meh?" I've had my 15 minutes of CD Twitter fame and I've come back down to earth. He replied to my tweet about choosing the right agent and offered this sage advice - @Neeky78 the one who pushes you the least. The more push, ...

Re: Am I reading too much into this?

It definitely took me less than 30 seconds to find your twitter...! . Yes, but you have the advantage of knowing my Twitter handle! 8) The CD had nothing but my name. Wouldn't have even known if I had a Twitter account. So why look me up??!! It all comes back to that - why look me up??!! Rarrr! Can...

He just retweeted (like an email forward) my reply tweet.
So I quickly asked an inane question about choosing agents and will see if he replies...

Re: Am I reading too much into this?

Man. I go to sleep for ONE night and a party happens without me on the otherside of the world! Yes, as 2GirlsMum says, #ff is for Follow Friday. It started as an etiquette thing so people didn't spend all week promoting their friends, but also encouraged Twitter to grow by allowing people to say to ...
