Re: Complete U turn!

That's quite a turnaround! Have you checked with his form teacher to see if there's a problem at school? Maybe a classmate made a wisecrack about your son's activities: you have to be a strong person to put up with the flak if you don't conform to the gender stereotypes (and 13 is a very sensitive a...

Re: 16+ MT UAL at Brit school

Hi Debbie, Our local college of FE does UAL for all its creative courses. This is just an anecdote but the drama teacher told us that one of her students got into Warwick to study history after passing her extended diploma; so it's not impossible, although I don't know how representative that is: th...

Re: NYT

I think it mentioned mid-May for National Youth Theatre this year, even later! From their website: Already Auditioned? We’re sending out results to all applicants via email by mid-May. This is from the email I received this year before DS auditioned: " Please note that we audition and intervie...

Don't think we'll know before April. It was 20th April last year when we got an email, so still a while to wait :( .

Re: Child performance licenses and Drama festivals

I'm on the committee of our local festival and this is an issue that we have discussed but not been able to resolve. This was from the latest newsletter from BIFF (British and International Federation of Festivals) and shows how confusing the issue is: "As we move into the first busy festival p...

Click on your username in the top right hand corner;
click on the User Control Panel:
click on Profile tab;
click on 'Edit Account Settings' and you'll find your email address in there. You will need to confirm your password, then click 'Submit'.

Hope that helps Irishdancer.

Re: National Youth Theatre

It was actually a yes for DS but the dates are a total and utter clash with NYMT so we are gutted to have to say no. No way round it. Try again next year , hopefully they liked what they saw and will give him another shot. Well done to your DS - that's amazing! It's a shame he can't do both courses...

Re: National Youth Theatre

Thanks Possibly - DS is 15 and applied for first time this year too - will post once we hear - good to know others are still waiting. [-o< Got the email last night - it was a 'no'. Thankfully, DS was absolutely fine about it. It does mean we can book our summer holiday now, so it's not all bad news...

Not yet - first time DS has applied and he's only 13 (not 14 till mid-July) so don't expect to get in this year. Will post news either way. Good luck!

Re: wrong song !

It sounds like you're in a real bind - just don't forget that it's your hard-earned money that pays for the lessons and the entrance fees, so you should have the final say. A large part of the drama/singing teacher's role is choosing the right pieces for their pupils, and they should listen to the c...

Re: wrong song !

As long as you haven't missed the deadline, I'd say dig your heels in and change the song! This happened to me and DS a few years ago: I wish I hadn't caved and let the singing teacher change DS's song just because she'd 'promised' it to someone else's mother :? The only problem would be if you have...

Re: Tell me some thing about the movie Ben-Hur

We should all write a sentence, based on another film/show, like those pictures you used to draw as a child, where one draws a head, folds the paper over and passes it on for someone else to draw the body, then repeat with the legs. Here's the opening line: The Part of Ben was portrayed brilliantly...

Re: An Inspector Calls Audition advice

It was on bbc 1 last Sunday but I didn't get to watch it,no idea if children were in it or not! I watched it on catch up - absolutely brilliant! I love Ken Stott and Miranda Richardson and they were terrific in this, as were the rest of the cast. I recommend watching it if you can. (No, there were ...

I hope you're going to be wearing more than a new lipstick :shock: You'll certainly attract the attention of Robert Downey Jr (and everyone else :D ). Have a fabulous time with your young man.
