Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

DD heard from GSA, they're still sorting out decisions and will hear by the end of the week. Strange that lots of others have heard though, maybe they have a 'not sure' pile?

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Thanks. still nothing from GSA despite a chasing e-mail and an audition 6 weeks ago. Does anyone know anyone who has been offered a recall? We're assuming they've just lost her and the rejection will arrive at some stage, it seems unlikely that they'd forget to recall someone.

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

Hi there! has anyone heard from GSA after audition? DD was there on the first weekend of auditions in early December (acting not MT) and hasn't heard at all. she was told they'd hear in 2 weeks but not to chase if it was longer. She saw some people at CSSD who had been rejected through UCAS and a ru...

Re: National Youth Theatre

Agree with this, you detail your availability and they still recall you for things that you can't make and involve weeks off school during public exams ](*,) DD's email after her recall was incredibly non-specific when previously she had a ...thank-you for attending for the recall, due to the high s...

Re: Savoy Theatre- Stephen Mear & Nigel Lilley: Stagebox Open Audition Call

I think with many of these things there's a fee for the audition workshop and a fee for the training, NYMT and NYT being good examples. the same goes for drama schools, they're still looking for the most talented. DISCLAIMER I have couple of pupils that are with Stagebox and love it, and know the pe...

Re: National Youth Theatre

they seem to get recalled for a specific project and it can be really late, DD2 had two one year and this year only heard last week so there's still hope! Having said that she says she usually is one of the youngest, she's 17 this year, and loads were in their early to mid twenties so hopefully load...

Re: National Youth Theatre

I think lots of people got a standard e-mail from Paul Roseby on Friday, I don't know if it was the general rejection e-mail or more about the Euro elections and plans because DD1 got one and she didn't even audition for a project this year! It was a-we really are trying to do lots more this year an...

Re: National Youth Theatre

Anyone at the gala recall today? DD2 said she had fun but, as ever at NYT, loads of very talented, older and more experienced people. Apparently Paul Roseby was there, so very intimidating all round. She's got this far before so is pretty pragmatic, although VERY taken with the idea of sharing the s...

Re: Uni graduates v. drama school graduates

Surely it depends on the performer, the uni and the drama school? A great performer will probably succeed anywhere, similarly a performer at a top uni dram group with experience at Edinburgh for e.g. may do better than a mediocre drama school and vice versa.
Eddie Redmayne did OK from Cambridge...

Re: gsa summer school MT

YorshireMum's DD went on two GSA courses, Acting and a MT/audition technique one I think. I think she loved it, there's good accommodation and they go and see a show in London too, hopefully she'll come on and give more detail, or you could PM her...

Re: wrong song !

How long have you got? Why not choose another song and learn it, you can always plan to use it for her Grade 7 musical theatre exam. Both of those are frequently done at festivals so you could go for something more unusual. Is she a soprano? Or more of a mezzo/belter (appreciate it's early to determ...

We were told no Sondheim, no Jason Robert Brown because of the fiendishly tricky accompaniments. DD was once in an audition where the pianist totally struggled with her song and it really affected her performance-maybe not worth the risk. Although pianists may be able to say if that is particularly ...

Re: National Youth Theatre

The courses can be residential so proximity to London is not a problem (we're oooop north and DDs managed it). DD2 got in first time around at 14, so can definitely be done. DD2 took a couple of goes and we now lots of great, talented people who tried several times before succeeding. I think, as wit...

Re: National Youth Theatre

I think ( wouldn't swear to it though) that DDs both had the Saturday evening and Sunday ( in the day off). They were both on junior courses.
