Re: BGT 2018

I know all last years filming, was completed in February before Judges) Dds friends got 4 yesses so knew in the January they were through that stage but had no idea if through to live finals. Then at the ‘ Reveal’ show they found out through to lives. Then a days filming before their live show. So a...

Re: Help RE:School being difficult

Have you had a meeting with the Head face to face? Do you live near London as most auditions are after school. We live over 3 hours away from London - and Head was fine once I had assured Dd's Head that Dd would not be going back and for to London, and missing full days of schooling for any 'ad hoc'...

Re: Mental health in performing arts

Paulears - No. With respect I absolutely disagree. So much talent is so very sensitive, (and this does not make them weak!) and their confidence may be easily destroyed by 'stronger personalities' who may be 'more robust' but often less talented - being insensitive and accepting of disrespectful co...

Re: Casting Agents for Teens

Dd is almost 15 - still has an agent. Has professional stage, tv and TVC experience. Though as she is now very quiet professionally, is now concentrating on training ready for college. We do still use Starnow and KCCP a bit - Dd does still get the odd offer through these sites so might be an option ...

Go for it with gusto - as long as your boy feels ok to do so - they must see something special, well done to your young man for staying in the game, has to be worth a shot x

Re: Is this commonplace ?!

Dd will be applying for Colleges, possibly next year - and although she has danced since she was 6 - she is definitely above the 'normal weight' well, she is a size 12 to 14 and 5 feet 2. Once puberty kicked in it happened all of a sudden - I was so very worried, I thought it would limit her, in her...

Re: The Voice Kids

They sent us an email - last year London Recalls were October Half Term? Emails for the no's went out quite quickly from end of September - we were one of the last to get one so every day that went by, where we didn't get the no, we were quite hopeful - but we did get the no email eventually. Good L...

Re: LAMDA exams

My daughter does MT LAMDA - not acting, - Grade 6 at moment and hoping to complete Grade 8 by end of year 10 so all over before main GCSE's. Her acting experience is with her Drama school and no formal exams are being followed. But through them, she gets lots of practical experience through musicals...

Re: The Voice Kids

Good Luck all - daughter got through to researchers last year. The feedback from 3rd round was amazing - almost an hour afterwards with researchers, phone calls, passports etc, so I was a little bit surprised when she didn't get through to London recall. Haha! we are used to auditions but this one d...

Re: Expectations from Agencies

I'd say, on our experience anyway, to not expect any feedback. Dd has been booked at castings we thought were definite no's and then not got past recalls for what we thought went really well. Best ever was a phone call out of the blue to say booked for a campaign on just a photo - no casting, no aud...

Definitely worth a shot - we only tried SY. Lots of other places, Redroofs would be our choice if money had been no worry when she was 11 - whatever will be will be - Good Luck!

Re: Full time training 11-16... Italia Conti, Sylvia Young

My daughter attends a state secondary school - we moved when she was 2, so that she could attend this very highly rated state school. We took on a massive mortgage to do this. Then we found out she is passionate about singing, acting and dancing. In that order ha! She really wanted to go to SY after...

Re: Fidgeting!

So young, and so what you would normally expect I think? I do remember, at a 2 day workshop, Jo Hawes talking about nerves and how to use this natural feeling positively in performance. Her 2 day workshop was great, for parents too. Jo held a session telling parents about the casting process, was ve...
