Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Have to add my wholehearted praise for Emil Dale 6th Form - it beats everywhere in my opinion. DD was offered Arts Ed too but we are so glad we remained reasonably local. DD has friends on other courses and none compares in terms of hours, standard and expectations - although everyone seems to be en...

Re: CDMT

My DD got a 50% reduction for an Easter course, one friend got £50 Amazon Vouchers and the other a day with D and B College. The icing on the cake! :D Now typing up my notes ...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

CDMT has a separate thread, but during our seminar on funding on Sunday, we were told that fewer students are auditioning early in order to maximise on their pre-vocational training (which so many now do). But you need to be careful you don't miss the DADA funding cut off date if eligible. We do kno...

Re: CDMT

I agree that it was a super conference - groups are small and well organised and we liked having plenty of time for the market place where the colleges were represented by staff in pivotal positions (eg Deputy Principal or Head of Musical Theatre) as well as a student or two. Seminars were very info...

I'm hoping you get an answer 38ta as we're going for the first time and are wondering what exactly is in store too! x

Re: WEK vs Urdang (Saturday/Sunday School)

Can't speak for Urdang (as their course is new and may be more challenging now than it used to be when DD attended). WEK is demanding, focusses on musical theatre and requires considerable home practice during the week - all aspects of performance are taught and appraised in writing termly and inclu...

Re: Insurance

I'm also just considering this so am very interested in the replies as DD in the same position starting in a couple of weeks. I've heard Aviva is good? No idea of costs.

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

I'm interested in the concept of "moving up" from diploma to degree. Not everyone would choose a degree course over a diploma. In fact update on DD's friend - offered degree at Bird last week - but was called on Friday to be offered a DADA for Diploma which she didn't expect and is swapping as that ...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

DD's friends have both been offered degree at Bird (one had degree offer also from Performers and the other Diploma offer from Italia Conti). Neither could have accepted Diploma due to finances. Both were contacted to check they wanted to remain on the Reserve List - that was a couple of weeks' ago....

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Bird College reserve list is definitely moving! One of dd's MT friends heard at the end of last week she has a place (and is therefore turning down her Performers offer) and another one heard this morning so is turning down her Italia Conti offer. Third MT friend hasn't heard anything yet from Bird ...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

One year foundation courses at the best colleges all seem to be excellent with students making rapid progress– and the colleges all quote getting 100% of students onto diploma or degree courses - but not necessarily their own. It’s the first year of degree courses for some of these colleges. Foundat...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

I know they had a funding audition last week. DD's friend was there. Was your dd at that? I've heard that Urdang communication has room for improvement - the degree third term optional payment is still unclear - but still looks like a good place to train!

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

So glad your DS got through today. Huge well done to him! We saw their Newsies which was truly excellent - and read today that the lead will be playing Joseph. A great place to train. Hope your DS gets an offer!

Re: CAT scheme or musical theatre?

What does your dd's dance teacher recommend? (You say she dances during the week) She may well be doing ballet to a high standard and not necessarily need a CAT scheme. There's certainly no harm in auditioning and then considering your options if she is accepted. I believe the CAT scheme at the Plac...
