Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

So lovely to hear this news! Brilliant! Well done! GSA is on dd's list for next year - must get down to visit it for real rather than just seeing it virtually! It seems a great course.

Re: Does being a boy give you a bigger advantage of getting into a 3 year musical theatre/dance courses?

Mmm -just being a boy? Possibly. Being a talented, dedicated and hardworking boy - yes. Purely because of numbers. A significant number of boys audition for colleges with limited training but relative to the years and years (and hours and hours) of training so many girls have had arguably demonstrat...

Re: Organisation of classes in Sept 2020

I had a call from an Emil Dale member of staff today as my dd will be going into BTEC 2 but we have offered to host a BTEC 1 student and possibly a gap year student. I was told they'll be back full time face to face but may have slightly staggered start times. They've been working hard to put everyt...

Re: ? Uncertainty re college resumption in Sept 2020

We are wondering this about DDs 6th form course. She'd be going into her second year of BTEC. As we live close she could cope with a mixture of online and face to face but the majority live in host families so we figure the online sessions "at home" could be very diffcult. Families normally expect t...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

It's interesting reading about the Laine numbers. It must be particularly difficult for them to predict how many of the original successful applicants will accept their place given that they only offer a Diploma in the first year so no-one can get student finance. That must be why their numbers fluc...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Urdang staff were open about their changes regarding funding the diploma at the recent Alliiance Conference. But I only have their words which I wrote down and I wasn't sure if this was starting in 2021 when my daughter will audition. They said they felt that the DADA system was unfair and take up o...

Re: Move It 2020 - Postponed

It's devastating news for everyone - and no idea about when it can be rescheduled to. We're upset enough here as DD was leading her Performance Troupe on the Mainstage and singing solo - but that's nothing compared to all the exhibitors, hotels, restaurants, professional performers etc who have been...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Realised that Lotsolaffs DD must be who my DD told me about last night (as she's also at EDA - first year). That is really super news. DD says she's amazingly talented! Huge well done to her! DD is also looking to go for colleges such as GSA Mountview Arts Ed etc along with Laine (or stay at EDA). B...

Re: Gold card to Urdang?

Girls given the Gold card on the week-long pre-audition course, which DD did a year ago, went straight through to the recall stage - ie missed the first audition. DD said they were all fantastic - and would have been seen over a whole week. A girl given one on their recent Open Day got a free auditi...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Just catching up on all the posts. Well done to everyone! Super to hear all the great news! DD is currently on the first year 6th form BTEC at EDA - and can't speak more highly of it - the course, the students and the teachers. She's hearing of several EDA success stories regarding diplomas or degre...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Have to add my wholehearted praise for Emil Dale 6th Form - it beats everywhere in my opinion. DD was offered Arts Ed too but we are so glad we remained reasonably local. DD has friends on other courses and none compares in terms of hours, standard and expectations - although everyone seems to be en...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

CDMT has a separate thread, but during our seminar on funding on Sunday, we were told that fewer students are auditioning early in order to maximise on their pre-vocational training (which so many now do). But you need to be careful you don't miss the DADA funding cut off date if eligible. We do kno...
