Re: Gypsy coming to the West End

My son was in Gypsy at the Curve Leicester. He had a small part and it was his first 'lucky break'. \:D/ He didnt tap but still got in. I know this will be a must see for us if it gets to the West End, although don't know who will top the leading lady,Caroline o Connor. :-k

Re: Cold feet

Thanks so much ladies......thought i would update you. Ds was grumpy again on the night of rehearsal, but with a bit of persuasion and encouragement he said he would give it another go. Once he was in the rehearsal room, i explained all to the chaperone, including all possible reasons! She was lovel...

Re: Cold feet

He was cast a fairly small part and i actually think he feels a bit left out to some of the kids who are more involved. He actually said tonight, they wouldnt really miss him anyway as his part is so small. The puzzler is that when he left his last rehearsal, he was absolutely buzzing and when i sa...

Re: Cold feet

Wow...what great advice you guys!!!! Firstly i am not offended by any of the advice at all. My biggest concern is my ds, and i really wouldnt push him to carry on if he was really not enjoying it. I am keen for him to realise that he did commit and with it their are responsibilities. I think hes fin...

Cold feet

My ds has recently been cast for a small part in a professional theatre production. It was his first audition for anything and he has little dance and singing experience. Rehearsals have just got underway, and as usual i suspect the schedule is a lttle higgledy-piggeldy! After a couple of late night...

Re: Sheet Music for Audition

Fairywhisperart - I use a very nice man called Stephen, who runs a company called "London Arrangements" - If you scan and e-mail (or mail - but obviously that's slower) the sheet music to him, he will send you back a rehearsal track at lightning speed via e-mail (normally within the day)....

Re: Sheet Music for Audition

Hi fairywhisperart, We usually use musicnotes.com Good luck to your ds Thanks Coco....i will give them a try. What worries me is that nobody we know plays piano so how do we know the song he practices will work well with the sheet music? He has a few other songs up his sleeve like 'i want you back'...

Sheet Music for Audition

Hi all....my ds is auditioning for 'Oliver' at Curve Theatre, Leicester and has been asked to bring sheet music for a song of his choice. It must be no longer than 2 minutes and i need to get hold of the music quickly. I know all NAPMs have been so helpful in the past this was my first port of call ...

Re: How to get an audition

You are a star!!!!! That helps me so much. I just didn't want to limit his chances at this early stage and as i say, with no prevous experience in this field thought i might totally mess things up. Thanks once again O:)

How to get an audition

I am very new to this, so am looking for any advice to help me on my way. Briefly my ds (10) has been singing and dancing since toddler but has only recently statred singing lessons, upon which he was told he ought to look into different avenues as he has quite a talent. Re: West End Stage Summer School

Hi there fairywhisperart, have registered my 9 yr old boy for SY Feb half term course only today! Let me know if you do too! Like you, I've looked around locally and there is very little going on here, so I'm hoping that it will be money well-spent as it is such a highly regarded theatre school. I ...

Re: West End Stage Summer School

Thanks Coco......my son is only 10 so unfortunately just misses out. Locally, i have checked around (leicestershire) and there doesn't seem to be much on. I'm going to see if i can persuade my son to go to Sylvia Young in February or maybe a taster session which will work out cheaper. Now i wish i l...
