Re: Unusual Names

Martin & Charlie Sheen, Jude Law, Marilyn Manson, Tom Cruise, Nic Cage and Jason Schwarzman are just a tiny sampling of actors/singers who use stage names - it's as prevalent now as ever. You just have to look at all the rapper-actors who still use their 'gangster' names on screen to see that: L...

Re: what does it all mean??

I might just do that.

I actually just applied for a job at William Morris Endeavor. Worst case scenario, I'll be my own agent

Re: Sore throat remedies

Welsh Mum wrote:Tom jones swears by them - he even had them on a documentary about him a few weeks ago - both my DD and i shouted "he's got Vocalzones!!!"
I can see the advert not "Vocalzones - definitely won't make you a great singer."

Sorry TJ fans, but he just... isn't.

Re: what does it all mean??

Nice to know it went well. Hopefully they'll follow up with watching you perform. I actually looked at the Curtis Brown website the other day and I've got to be honest, I'm tempted to approach them. You know, since Ari Emanuel seems to have lost my number

Re: Sore throat remedies

Hot drinks can be really good, too. If she's coming down with a cold (God forbid) then avoid dairy as best you can, but things like Lemsip, black tea and coffee (obviously not ideal) and hot squash (Ribena with hot water is my personal favourite) are all good. Essentially, you want to make sure ever...

Re: what does it all mean??

Hard to say, really. When I got my first agent, they already knew all about me. I went in, chatted for a while then signed papers, so I'm as interested to find out what they ask as you are!

Re: lOl films

I'd love to know where they get those numbers from. They're well above EQmin, right? Unless I missed a memo, I mean.

Re: Unusual Names

Sorry didn't think we were just discussing USA  I think you're misunderstanding my point. Yes, a Clint or Demi here would raise an eyebrow or two. But then again, a name that seems fairly normal in Wales, like Rhodri or Daffyd or something would seem really odd in LA. You don't get many Petra...

Re: what does it all mean??

Yeah, you get a lot of them who want credits and all that good stuff. Some don't mind though, lets them build you from the ground up. Plus, it's always fun to watch agents fight with managers. They're like cats and dogs. That said, managers can be anyone, really. My best mate is mine at the moment. ...

Re: what does it all mean??

LOL. Moneypenny, it's fine. I wasn't offended. And now I feel like James Bond. Bizzy, the reason I'm all for the agent/manager tandem is this: your agent, as a rule, is a negotiator. He's there to find jobs, sure, but he's also there to do deals, make you money and be aggressive. You manager, on the...

Re: what does it all mean??

I'd hate to be confused for an 'insider' - I've been around the block a couple of times, I read a lot and know a lot of industry types, but I'm not an insider or an expert in any way - I'll just try and give you the benefit of my exerience where I can.

Re: Unusual Names

I'm not sure 'Demi' or 'Clint' would, to be honest. Both are pretty common over there. Not so much here, but they are in the US. And Sigourney is an old Irish name; I have a couple of Sigourneys in my ancestry. I mean, it's not common, I agree, but at least it's not 'celebrity naming' - like these d...

Re: what does it all mean??

Ha ha. Fair enough. I think i judge a 'big agency' depending on who they represent. for me the ones that i would be extremely lucky to be represented by would be ARG, Hamilton Hodell, United Agents, and Curtis Brown. A mid size one would be someone like BWH. But thats just my veiw and the ones i've...
