Re: Auditioning for 2016

Sorry to go back to GSA but another thought occurred to me. I don't think they look at predictive grades before they take a £45 audition fee, so there must be an awful lot of hopefuls who don't stand a chance and if as has been said previously they are such sticklers for their high grades perhaps th...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

Hi Livy2, my Son auditioned the last 2 years for acting schools and the first rounds tend to be during the week, some of the recalls were at the weekend. His school was very supportive though and was happy for him to attend auditions, the second year was more difficult as he had a job so more diffic...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

As far as I know the only other schools that ask for A levels /Ucas points are LIPA two A levels at grade C, East 15, 160 Ucas points including C&E at A levels and Btec equivalent and MMU school of theatre 280 Ucas points which is where my Son has completed his first year but they offered him a ...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

As you say hecouldshine, there is more competition for drama schools than for Oxbridge, but GSA are the only school that require such a high level which personally I think is a draw back to the school. Even if my son had been capable of getting the required grades, I would probably have worried the ...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

Hi JayLou, my son has just completed his first year at Man Met and has loved the school along with the city. MMU has just been voted as equal top drama school in the latest student survery scoring 100% for student satisfaction along with Drama Centre. My son was also impressed with Drama Centre when...

Re: September 2015

jaybeeyellow, it may be worth him sending a message to GSA on twitter as I think they have quite a lively twitter page. That's dreadful that there was no one from GSA he could speak to if only to offer sympathy and encouragement for next year. The one thing I would say is, I really don't think my so...

Re: September 2015

That is so harsh from GSA jaybeeyellow. My Son who has just completed his first year at MMU School of Theatre was 20 UCAS points shy of what they required which I think was 280. He had a year out as he wasn't successful the first year of auditioning for drama school but last year got into MMU with a...

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result

That's such good news Angelam, well done to your DD!! It means so much especially after- if anything like my DS- two years of hope and then rejection, to get that email is such a good feeling :D

Good luck to all those awaiting news of DADAs and funding.

Re: Accommodation

Thanks Sapphire, that sounds like really good advice. Like you say, it's very difficult to know if you will all get on if you don't meet face to face even if you are all on the same course. I think DS is thinking now that he is going to apply for halls, personally, I would prefer him to as it's good...

Accommodation

DS is starting at the Manchester School of Theatre in September. Most drama schools don't tend to have halls of residence but as Manchester is allied to Man Met Uni, halls is an option. DS has been told by friends who are already at drama schools-but ones where there isn't the option of halls- that ...

Thank you everyone, we are so thrilled for him :D

I will let you know Sapphire, he really likes Manchester, seems like a very vibrant city. I've never been but sure will be having a trip up very soon to sort accommodation etc, exciting times!!!

Re: New Thread for actual destinations!!

DS is going to Manchester School of Theatre to do BA Acting, he only found out on Friday :D So pleased for him after two years of auditions and, this year, lots of recalls and offers of foundations, but now he's got what he wants. Well done to everyone who has places but to all those who haven't per...

Re: Foundation courses

Thanks everyone for your comments re foundation courses. I was very impressed as DS emailed Drama Centre asking if he could have any feedback from his recall and they came back to him on the same day with his mark sheet which was very encouraging and I would say he wasn't far off an offer for the BA...

Re: Foundation courses

Thank you so much for your kind words Dorothy and I so sympathise with you both. That is such bad luck for your DD, having an injury at this time, hope the physio is helping. I have also shed more than a few tears for DS, horrible when they are so enthusiastic to be knocked back with a standard emai...
