Re: All the shoes; how do people transport them

You can get dance bags with different sections for keeping shoes/clothes etc in from most dancewear shops, or online from places like Dance Direct. Bags with mesh pockets for shoes on the end are a good idea as a well worn pair of ballet shoes can add a distinctly unpleasant odour to everything else...

Re: What brand is this leotard?

I don't know but if I had to hazard a guess I'd say it might be Mirella as they seem to have a number of designs with that kind of twisty effect. I could be barking up completely the wrong tree though! Good luck with your hunt - it's a rather nice leotard.

Re: Associate Programmes

You might also want to look at the Hammond. They have an associate scheme and it would be pretty convenient for you. I don't know much about it, but I'm sure someone will be along soon who has personal experience. There's also the Cecchetti Northern Associates which I believe is in Warrington, so al...

Re: Arrgh...ballet tights mishap.

Thanks - I'll see if I can get hold of some of that and give it a try. The annoying thing is that I'd saved up a pile of tights to wash together to avoid washing them with darker stuff and now I've gone and ruined the whole lot!

Arrgh...ballet tights mishap.

Thanks to a stray black school sock in the washer I have just turned a pile of DD's pink ballet tights a particularly unattractive shade of pinky grey. #-o Does anyone know any magic tricks that might restore them or should I just resign myself to replacing them all?

Happy New Year!

Wishing everyone a very happy and successful 2012. Best of luck in whatever auditions/exams/productions you have coming up. My DD is getting excited about EYB in Newcastle at Easter. Well, so am I actually - can't wait to find out more about the new production of Swan Lake and to see the costumes! H...

Dance over the festive season

Well with just one more day left at work for me before a few days off for Christmas I'm feeling a bit festive. I was just wondering what everyone's DD/DS's are up to over the festive season? Anyone performing in anything exciting? Or are you off to see anything wonderful over the Christmas period? I...

Re: UK Grishko stockists??

It wasn't me, but I remember the thread! I do have problems finding soft shoes that look nice on my DD's feet though. She has small feet - not particularly narrow, but her toes are quite tapered. A lot of shoes seem to be quite baggy round the outside of her toes. Capezio cobras don't have the "...

UK Grishko stockists??

Dies anyone know anywhere in the UK that sells Grishko soft shoes mail order? I got some for my DD mail order from Russia and she really liked them, but the shipping was a bit slow/expensive so I was wondering there's anywhere in this country? I've googled and found quite a few places with Grishkp p...

Re: First Pointe shoes

This is also a massive deal for my dd, who is more excited about earning her pointe shoes than she is about Christmas! I've no real advice to add to what has already been said, but this made me smile. The first pair of pointe shoes is such a big event - I remember how excited my DD was. I think she...

Re: Ballet site "going into archive"

Hi Cathy, Great idea! I am absolutely gutted about losing ballet.co.uk and am suffering serious withdrawl symptoms from my daily fix of ballet chat. Hopefully some of the other Doing Dance regulars will join in over here and we'll all make lots of new friends too. I have been a member here for a lit...
