Re: GCSE music

DS did music GCSE but I wouldn't say that it has been useful. He is training at Bird and has used none of the knowledge from the GCSE
The thing that he has found useful is his music lessons he had when he was younger as he can accompany himself whilst singing and also plays for other students

Re: Agency advice please!

Has the agency been submitting her for jobs? May be worth finding that out. If they haven't, then it's certainly better to change. I took my daughter off a very well known larger agency to go with a much smaller one. We found that she was submitted for far more jobs with the smaller agency who didn'...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

For anybody starting at Bird this September-Ds in final year and has lived with the most incredible host family for the whole 3 years. He was only 16 when he started and they have cared for him so well. Really great location too. PM if you would like details. Ds will be sad to leave them

Re: Juggling school and working - when does something have to give?

We had the same when Ds was in primary school-they were great at first but less enthusiastic as he was cast in more shows. He went to Sylvia Youngs for secondary school where he worked on and off the whole time he was there, which they were very happy about as long as he kept up with his school work

Re: Dd struggling - advice

Don't have any advice re books but wanted to say well done to your DD for continuing after such criticism and doing something so out of her comfort zone. What a brave girl. I can't understand why teachers think they are going to get the best out of people by completely knocking their confidence and ...

Re: Why.. Can anyone help please

Quite often for tv and theatre work, we have to sign disclosures, so maybe that's why things are quieter on here, we are actually not allowed to talk about it. There's new legislation coming in all of the time. Also, I think everyone knows that some well known casting directors are on this site too!...

Re: Self Tape Success Stories

Dd filmed for an ITV show after a self tape. She was picked straight from the tape. She has also done lots of other self tapes but not had any success. It's hard to know what they are after unless they specifically say

Re: How to tell your agent you’re leaving?

You only need to tell them as much as you want to! They don't need to know why or where you are going. I would just thank them for their time with you and ask if you can leave straight away. We left SY to go to another much smaller agency and it was all very polite with no hard feelngs. (Although Ds...

We were there too last night, it was such a great show. Ds is shattered as it's been intensive rehearsals but certainly the hard work has paid off

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

It works out at £33.36 per month for Bird over the three years. We just pay it monthly. I think there are a few options

Re: Chaperoning and hours allowed on a 2 show day

Sorry it was a bit lengthy!
I print it out and keep it in a folder for the chaperones along with all of the other paperwork.
As long as they get their break it will be fine, they don't have to leave the premises for that.

hope it goes well, break a leg :)

Re: Chaperoning and hours allowed on a 2 show day

This is what Kent County Council have on their website Children should not take part in performances or rehearsals: on more than 6 consecutive days for more than 8 consecutive weeks without an interval of 2 weeks more than once a day if attending school that day without an interval of 1 hour 30 minu...
