Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

so it looks like no news is 'not good news' for DS for Central - looks like recalls have been offered and he didn't get an email :-(. He is pretty down at the minute as didn't get one of the schools he really wanted. Trying to explain that there are 100's if not 1000's out there with no offer at al...

Re: Artsed Acting Foundation

Thank you, that is really helpful and good to know. Well done to your DD for a getting a place on the 3 year. DD loved it at the audition but it's such a big investment and trying to work out if we can afford it and if it is worth it so it is good to hear such positive feedback. If your DD is lookin...

Artsed Acting Foundation

Has anyone any experience of Artsed Acting Foundation course. DD offered a place and just trying to get some information on it (other than the Artsed website). For example how many do they take and is it any good.

Re: Alra Audition

Thank you - that is what we expected to happen as that is what their Audition guidelines state. However, the whole group were told they could go after stage 2 and they would get an email - hence the confusion. I will contact Admissions and ask them.

Alra Audition

I wondered if anyone who had an audition for ALRA recently could share their experience. DD auditioned for ALRA last week. After the first stage about half were recalled, including DD, and put in 3 groups for the second stage. After the second stage everyone in her group was told they could go and w...

Re: Child performance licenses and Drama festivals

Thanks so much for that - I can't believe there is so much confusion. Well since our local council have said it isn't our responsibility then I may just leave it. As you say, even if they don't license, I doubt the council will turn up and stop them performing. They are more likely to give them guid...

Child performance licenses and Drama festivals

Does anyone have any experience of child performance licenses and drama festivals. I volunteer at our local youth theatre (part of an amdram with its own theatre) and our shows are covered by a Body of Persons agreement. One of our shows is being performed at a local drama festival and I asked the l...

Re: DSM Productions

Daniel also contacted my dd through her kccp profile about the tv pilot and we have had some correspondence which has put us off taking it any further. I don't doubt he is genuine and really wants to make his tv pilot and show but I think mumamia's comments about him being in cuckoo land and followi...

Restrictions for unlicensed performers

My council uses the 4 day rule for child performance licenses so as long as a role is unpaid and there is no time off school they don't have to be licensed if they haven't done more than 4 days in the previous 6 months. However, I wondered if there was still a restriction in hours. I believe current...

Re: Children in entertainment law link

Tikto, there are permitted hours set out by law that children can work and I think the latest for a 5-9 year old is 4.30 so assume your dd/ds comes in this age group. My dd is 12 and 9 and over can work until 7. My council advised me that it is not legal to issue a license to work outside those hour...

Re: Can an under-18 perform at an over-18 venue?

My 15 year old son is in a band and all the band members are under 18. They played at an over 18 gig recently a fact the didn't know until a lot of their friends turned up to watch them and got turned away. The pub said it was because they only had an over 18s bar license in the event room the gig w...

Re: What can I say to school to get them on my side?

I was fortunate that my dd's headteacher at primary school was very supportive. She told me that my dd was on the G&T register for drama and that it was the school's job to help develop her skills and allowing time off for auditions and filming was part of it. She only had about 12 days off over...

That happened on my dds profile recently. Her Starnow castings went up by one unexpectedly - then a week later it went back down again. I guessed someone had made a mistake.

Re: short film via spotlight

My dd has done four paid short films so they do exist. One of them was via Spotlight - they searched Spotlight profiles and then contacted the agents of those they wanted to see and then the same producer contacted me and asked her to do another one. The other two were both student films but paid st...
