Re: Brain AVM

Just an update for all those who followed what happened to my nephew. He originally had a 3% chance of surviving his brain AVM, he is doing so well it is nothing short of a miracle. He is enjoying life, a bit different from what he thought he would be doing in his twenties, but he is an inspiration ...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

My ds applied to lots of places and visited them all. It definitely helped as he developed a clearer idea about what he wanted to specialise in. He had been torn between musical theatre and acting. In the end he is doing a degree that covers acting, writing, directing, producing, screen work and set...

Re: Just interested - general hit rate from submissions/cast

It's a way of life really. You never know when you are going to uproot and change plans. When you don't have time for an audition, one will arrive, when you haven't banked on getting a role, out of the blue you suddenly do and one you think is more likely doesn't materialise into anything. The small...

Re: TOP HAT - the Aldwych

Finally got to see this on tour this year. What a fab show. My dd does tap and latin and ballroom so was very pleased to see bits of both in this wonderful show. \:D/

Re: Casting queries *newbie alert*

First of all welcome to the forum, you have found just the right place for the best advice. The members here have so much experience in this field that it is invaluable. The decision to start with an agent for me came after my ds was approached at an open audition that we had attended just for fun. ...

Michellem68, well done to your dd. We know of several people who have been to bodyworks who have been very successful in the West End so no doubt your dd will enjoy it :D :D :D

Re: Dilema Re Offers, Any Advice?

This is such a difficult one to answer bluebelle as each person is different. My ds chose to do A levels and has coped well with them and is now coming to the end of his courses and has no regrets. He took Performing Arts as one of his courses and continued to dance and do theatre and music outside ...

Re: Guildford Recalls. How long?

It took about a fortnight before we heard. From what I can tell there is no rhyme nor reason as to how long it takes. You hear through UCAS if a no, if I remember correctly and an email if recall. Good luck :D

Re: Brain AVM

Wonderful news straight from the hospital today: they have managed to sort the AVM so that it should not cause further problem. My nephew will not have to undergo any more ops for the foreseeable future. A few years back the news was very bleak for him: it just goes to show you must never give up an...

Re: Advice on Auditions, Rejections etc

The advice is keep going. My ds is doing the rounds this year, he has had both offers and rejections, and still more auditions to go. Once he has answers from everywhere he will make a decision over what to do. There are many different routes into this profession and is it a hard path to take so rej...

Re: A remark from a TV and Film Director

I think every casting director has an idea of what they are looking for for each role and it is so different each time you cannot second guess it so it is best to be yourself. Children often do better in a lot of things without too much adult/parent intervention. Each audition is an experience and o...

Re: The how long between application and audition thread :)

My ds has three more auditions before Christmas, one in January and one still to come. All those different monologues, I have no idea how our kids manage them all. Good luck to everyone else auditioning.
