Re: The Waiting Room - a place to go 'aaaaagggghh'

Last year I saw on Facebook that letters had arrived for dd’s first choice and drove all the way home on my lunch break to collect hers!

Good luck

Re: Which GCSE?!

My daughter went to a full time vocational school from the age of 11 and they didn't even offer GCSE dance as they said the standard was too low. A lot did choose to do drama but its certainly not necessary. Dd did GCSE music, Grade 8 LAMDA and Intermediate ballet, tap and Modern and had 3 offers of...

Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought

I would definitely consider Hammond. It may be up in Chester but they have great industry links. Last year one student reached the Stephen Sondheim student performer finals and the calibration of teaching is excellent.

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018

It’s ds’s birthday and too far to take him on a school night and not fair to leave him on his birthday. (Although one of his school friends is obsessed with Collabro and can’t believe her friends sister is singing with them and is angling for us to take them).

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018

The argument about girls v boys, experience v no experience and looks will always pop up x I just went to my dd’s first public performance at The Hammond and I was very interested to see how different everyone seemed. The type of songs they had chosen and the different tones of voice, characters th...

My full spreadsheet also contains pure acting courses.

I must get it finished but then the info goes out of date so quickly.

Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought

That information was correct as of October 2018 and was stated on Urdang's website. However as you say, it has now disapeared. I did see a newspaper article online about a legal challenge to the "voluntary top up" so maybe they have got rid of it since I first started to compile the list.

Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought

I would say take it into consideration but don't make it the be all and end all. It used to be that CDET (Council for Dance Education & Training) and Drama UK Accreditation for a course (it was the course not the institution that was accredited) meant that graduates gained automatic graduate entry i...

Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought

I would strongly advise you to attend the next CDMT conference in November. LAst year was at Urdang, the year before LIPA, they havn't announced this year yet. It'ss a little bit like Move It without all the dance mom type kids and they limit numbers (its only open to Year 9 and above students who a...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

To get a Dada you HAVE to be enrolled onto the L6 Trinity Diploma. That is the government's rules, not the college. I can still only find details onf the Laine top up degree on their website but it is possible that they are offering for students to pay for the top up alongside. With regards to the c...

Re: 'Best fit' schools/colleges post 18?

I find it quite strange that they have gone from one extreme to the other. GSA used to have ridiculously high requirements that disadvantaged those doing A levels rather than Btec and put off many talented young people from even applying. Other institutions offering vocational training/degree tend t...

Re: Insurance

My husband has income protection insurance which covers him if he is unable to work due to illness or injury. We almost had to claim this year but you have to be earning money and prove previous earnings.

I would say for a dancer etc it would be more important to have medical insurance.

What sort of hours are expected. BOA would be an hour train journey there and back which is do-able but might be too much to expect if there are lots of late nights etc.
