Re: Time and cost commitment of local youth theatre groups

I think it depends on the group. Ds is in a youth theatre company and has had roles ranging from the lead to chorus. The group is very good at giving everyone plenty to do and putting little cameos in. He’s happy just to be in the show regardless of role. He tried another group and it was entirely d...

Re: Millennium Performing Arts college

The RI status affected the DaDa's as you have to have Good or Outstanding to be part of the DaDa scheme. Degree funding is subject to something called Designation which they failed to satisy one of the requirements.

BUYER BEWARE - Financial Stability of Schools

Just a reminder as we will be heading into a new applications year soon to not only investigate the teaching and graduate prospects of schools but also their financial stability. A 6th Form with a vocational dance and musical theatre strand that dd was offered a scholarship at last year for A levels...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Hammond. The MT BA course is less dancy than the dance diploma but they stream the dance and you get the same teachers as the diploma students do meaning that by the end of the 3 years most students have improved in their dance a lot. The singing is very strong too. You have missed this years Open D...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

INcidentally, I've found where that Dada data was published. Those figures were for the 2018-19 academic year. There is a note on the website to say that individual schools have been given their amounts for next year but they havn;t been published in full yet. Anotherthing to bear in mind is there a...

Re: Urdang pre audition course

You might be best posting this in the Training section as I think this section is mostly only used for admin messages so not very widely read.

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Fairly largish classes than. At my daughter’s college there are between 8 -23 in a class (depending on the split of MT And dance course students. My husband used to teach at Bird, fabulous college, but it was a lot smaller back then. I’ve searched for those DaDa figures in the past and never been ab...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Have Tring got their funding back after their admin error 3 years ago then? I know they were hoping too. Where are those figures from. I didn’t know they’d been published anywhere. That’s interesting about Bird lowering their fees yet still keeping the same contact hours I presume. What are there cl...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Across all 3 year groups. The OFSTED reports just give the total number of students studying on those courses and the total in receipt of a DaDa.

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

The number of DaDa awards that each college has varies year by year depending on the income brackets of students but you can look up the most recent inspection reports to get a rough idea ALRA - 43 DaDa / 193 students (2019) Arts Ed - 111 DaDa 237 students (2015) Bird 107 DaDa 123 students (has now ...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Many of the other colleges wait until all auditions are over before making offers. Or they wait until all auditions are over before offering funding. In face the rules of the DaDa mean that no college is allowed to offer funding until all candidates have been seen and scored. Bird make very few offe...

Re: Should I change DS training and agent or not?

Grade 3 LAMDA is incredible high for a 9 year old. LAMDA used to have minimum age requirements and they recommended a minimum of age 11 for Grade 3. Going higher would mean a bit of a conflict between his age, maturity and the type of repertoire they are expected to perform. What does concern me tho...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Bird’s use of the reserve list like this also leaves other colleges in the lurch when students who have accepted a place drop out (more so for the diploma as degree places are results dependent anyway. It probably doesn’t have quite as much impact on somewhere like Bird that has an intake of 100 plu...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Surely he'd have had to put the UCAS code in? Sounds very confusing.
