Re: A levels alongside Musical Theatre Btech

Dd investigated the MT course at Tring but she hated it there but from what I can gather from people we know who went or are there (on the drama course though, not MT) is that their MT training is a 2 year course they have put together themselves that does not lead to a specific qualification. So in...

Re: A levels alongside Musical Theatre Btech

The thing you have to consider with the btec is there are more than one type at Level 3 Although the level is the same the size of the qualification differs. There is one that is equivalent in size to 1 A level and one that is equivalent to 2 A levels. The instututions that offer this qualification ...

She had a daily ballet class, twice weekly tap & modern classes, weekly drama class, vocal ensemble, private singing lesson & private LAMDA lesson.

She's now in the fist year of professinal training.

Re: Musical Theatre Courses with a full student loan!

Half way there. I've compiled all the CDMT (formerly CDET), Federation of Drama Schools and Conservatoire affiliated institutions. I just need to go through UCAS etc to compile the university courses. I'm also waiting for replies from a couple of institutions whose websites are not clear about wheth...

Re: When to apply?

For those doing A levels and GCSe's I think its better to apply early as you really don't want to be juggling auditions with exams. However for those taking a year out or on Foundation courses then its probably best to leave it until a bit later. The only thing I will say is that a freidn of dd's go...

Re: 'Best fit' schools/colleges post 18?

We found that the CDET conference (now called the Council for Dance, Drama & Musical Theatre) was very useful. It was much less of a jojo bow sales event and a more of a serious these are the colleges, take part in a few class/workshops to get a feel for the type of training & while we’re at...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

DD also didn't audition there but similar to Marissa's dd she wore a simple skater style dress over the top of her leotard and black tights. She did wear her New Yorkers as the only other shoes she had were lace up school shoes, Vans or trainers.

I my area, regardless of whether or not you have a portable DBS or not the Local Authority insist on doing a fresh one. I've been a chaperone in two different local authorities and have knowledge of a third. The process for all three involved filling in an application form sending it off with the de...

Re: Why.. Can anyone help please

I think one of the busiest boards is the training board. There are very long threads chronicling the ups and downs of auditioning for professional training and the knowledge that has been shared on there is invaluable.

Re: 'Traditional'?

Its not really a recognised trm as such but I suspect they mean standard legit/book musicals.

Perhaps go for something jukebox style.
