Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

One college did tell us that as long as we confirmed the place dd would be awarded an income dependent school scholarship if she was not awarded a Dada. It was a toughie as it wasn't her first choice college so we didn't confirm and luckily she got a Dada at her first choice.

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Can anyone suggest the nearest hotel/guest house to Bird College for audition day - nearest and best value I’ve found is the Travel Lodge - 11 min walk to Bird - Thought I’d ask before booking :-) My husband used to work there. He lodged further away as it was cheaper but for just an overnight stay...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Dada's own rules state that funding can't be offered until after a date in March, possibly 31st March and after all auditionees have been seen and ranked. We found out in May at Hammond. I know people who have had letters with dada funding offers already from Laine and Bird. Maybe its to say they w...

Re: Youth a Production cost advice

What we pay for ds depends on how many rehearsal weeks there are between rehearsals starting and the show.

Latest is £108 which is £20 insurance & £4 per week subs. (There are twice weekly rehearsals)

Re: Gold card to Urdang?

Yes, its usually a free audition. It means that a member of their staff has spotted you at a workshop etc and is interested in you but is no guarantee of a place (a weakness not other wise visible could become apparent at full audition for example)

Re: Courses at 16

No, it won’t be accepted. A few unis will accept music/drama/dance grades at level 3 alongside A levels or a but not an ATCL. Maybe I’m being cynical but anyone can enter a candidate for an ATCL but to offer the Extended Diploma or the Level 6 Professional Diploma you have to be a recognised exam ce...

Re: Courses at 16

ATCL is a Trinity Diploma. Often taken in the past by instrumental music etc teachers. It leads onto the LTCL and FTCL. Some conservatoires will enter their students for these alongside their usual studies or it's quite common for singing/drama teachers to prepare their students for it after they ha...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Help from grandparents may count towards a school scholarship at some places (it was on the form dd's school sent out to be used for those who did not get a Dada) but it won't count towards income for DaDa assessment. Neither does any income the child themselves earns. Dd's grandparents contribute t...

Re: CDMT

We went in year 10 but dd was applying for places age 16 as she was already at vocational lower school. We felt that Year 11 was leaving it too late as she already needed to have applied to several places by then. There was a Year 9 girl from her school there. So if your dd isn't applying until age ...

Re: Financing diploma vs degree

It depends on your individual circumstances. Degree course tuition fees are paid for via Student Loan which has to be paid back once the student is earning over a certain amount. The maximum is £9250 per year Diploma tuition fees are around £12-14k per year but if you get a DaDa your contribution de...
