Re: Auditioning for 2016

My daughter spoke to one of the second year students at Arts Ed today. Apparently, he had no offers the first year he auditioned, then the next year he was offered a foundation place at GSA. After doing that, the next year he got a number of offers for three-year courses, including Arts Ed, which h...

Re: Audition Songs!!

Can I also say not to concentrate on just one/two songs? Ideally an auditionee should have a folder if sings, with at least two of every genre, style etc. It is not unusual to be asked to sing something different. You should feel equally comfortable with alternatives. Other than that agree with the ...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

I am a Head of Sixth and one of my students has applied for RCSSD and GSA through UCAS. I had her dance school principals reference and managed to squeeze in some of it with her academic reference. She has auditions at both places so it must have been ok. Inwouldvaske if her school could do this.

Re: Conference on Mental Health in Drama Training

Perhaps the reason the thread was 'hijacked' as you put it was because your initial post came across as a mixture of promoting the Conference aswell as promoting your own organisation (an advert) for where to train and included some statements that were bound to be challenged and therefore overshad...

Re: Monologues

& DD's teacher said you should be able to have a good idea of the play it came from and an idea of the character you are talking about and how they feature in the play Don't think you can do a monologue without knowing the play and character etc. You need to know why the character is doing, say...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

Maybe what they are looking for is for DD to show what she has participated in (acting wise) and what she's seen and what she wants to get out of training with them? Also I was shocked to see that Mountview charge £3,000 more per year for their courses and that you can only get £6,000 support. Made...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

My DD went to RCSSD. I think they audition more or less everyone. They are v flexible when it comes to A level grades etc and emphasis is on ability/potential not academic success.

Re: Auditioning for 2016

GSA don't look at grades before auditioning , I think they do it during the auditions .DS was at a recall audition there last year and there was a lad who was amazing !! After he had sung ,they said he may as well go home as he didn't have the grades and they couldn't consider him. Poor boy was dev...

Re: Auditioning for 2016

Sorry to go back to GSA but another thought occurred to me. I don't think they look at predictive grades before they take a £45 audition fee, so there must be an awful lot of hopefuls who don't stand a chance and if as has been said previously they are such sticklers for their high grades perhaps t...

Central is same fees as other degrees - £9,000
